I hope it succeeds for years as a sub game. Unfortunately it appears to be going in a direction that appeals to just one part of the customer base. I really hope that base is big enough as there's a lot to like in ESO. 1-50 it is fantastic.

Too much profit in F2P not to go that route eventually. Several sites that write about MMOs looked into profits and found that a F2P makes about 3 times the profit of a P2P. A 2-3 times profit increase for changing your payment model is hard not to take.

1-50 fantastic have you read the shadowfen quest thread or the multitude of broken quests, bug, exploiting,bot,stam vs magi builds,imbalance, nerf etc etc threads and dont forget console push back,payment threadsand thier first content update craplore? take off your rose tinted glasses ESO should be f2p NOW!

oh and phased grouping lol in mmorpg grouping for quest should be the mot extensively tested feature but something obviously not a concern for ZOS but they push back 2 platform releases because of payment methods or so they say.

I hope never. The community in this game is not as bad as some of the complaining makes it seem. I have been through a F2P transition and the minute the F2P gates open, the community goes in the tubes. If the game goes F2P, chances are I and probably a lot of the current subscribers will walk away.

Yea. And if the community does not go feet up the gameplay does. I was with lotro for a few years after FTP. It slowly went from a game to a game with a store to a store with a game.

The creeping removal of game features and facilities so they could come back as a monetised item was the worst.

That's why I feel it is a mistake for ESO to only cater for a segment of its player base after L50.

If the licenses allow it and this is the logical step to go from a economic point of view.

I see nothing wrong with F2P models, partially because I used them in the past.

He gets it from no where, and he's been posting it in a few locations. The sub numbers have not been posted anywhere at all. Whether they be total copies sold, total active subs, or total currently leaving. Ragnar has turned into a troll as of late, not that he was providing good discussion before or anything.

On topic, it'll be over a year. As I've said in the other thread on this topic, even the really crappy MMOs (or what I would consider crappy) like SWTOR still lasted over a year before F2P hit. There has not been any large titles to go F2P in under a year, so history doesn't really show that as being a thing. Doesn't mean it's impossible, but I'd say it's highly unlikely.

It will go F2P or close down in time. All MMOs will eventually head that direction, even the ones that have been up on subs for 10+ years.

ESO is already hitting the bargain bins with some retailers. E3xpo starts next week. f2p within 3 weeks.

Couldn't agree with this more.

I got tired of the f2p cry baby community and the non-sub mmo's that seems to attract mainly 10 year old children. I wanted a mature community with a great game that I would feel happy to pay my sub amount for, and ESO is exactly that.

Why would you want a game to go F2P? F2P is freaking awful. Oh you want THAT sword? Well thats 10 bucks.... Oh no no you can't have red hair unless you pay 2 dollars. F2P is a fail for an MMO IMO. Too much BS comes with it when it's "free".

It just makes me think, what would old games be like if they adopted these models. Like playing Megaman, you can fight 1 boss but after that each boss is 5 dollars to unlock!
