What in the world happened?

I have been away from the game for two weeks due to my father's health issues. (thanks everyone for your kind words)

anyways I logged in today to feed my horse, and glenumbra looked like a ghost town. Where is everybody?

sure there were still people in town but no where near the amount there was 2 weeks ago. Did something happen while I was gone? I really hope people are not bailing on the game. I really want to play the higher level stuff at some point.

People have left. If you are in vet ranked zones, people have gone to Craglorn to level instead of questing in the VR zones. Those zones are dead.

Probably a mixture of things going on. For sure some people have left, it's pretty typical for an MMO to lose a good chunk of subs after the first month or two as a lot of folks tend to game hop. In addition to that summer break has started for some folks, which tends to mean vacations and other activities, and less time online. Finally, I would venture a guess that a good portion of the game population has moved on from the initial starting zone at this point in time. So the bulk of the playerbase is likely somewhere in Rivenspire, maybe Stormhaven or Alik'r (non VR).. if you're in VR content then many players probably haven't gotten there, and a lot moved to Craglorn to level after it came out.

I tend to find the most concentration of characters in the bank.. not sure how that works with the way they do phasing and all. Tons of characters standing around the bank could result in less out in the world if it's a population cap for the entire zone.

You're not likely to find many positive opinions on the forums, so if you posted this for reassurance purposes, it was likely in the wrong place, sadly. I would say don't be discouraged though. Lots of people on the FFXIV:ARR forums were complaining about empty servers, empty linkshells, and all their friends leaving.. and that's still going strong with over one million subs :) What we see on here isn't always representative of what is actually going on.

vet zones aren't dead. some people did leave but there are people still in vet zones to group with to get dungeons, dolmens, and bosses done. there are less people in the vet zones sure but not dead by any means.

You sir win the stupid quote of the week, as well as the TOOL of the week. There are so many absurd things wrong with your statement I don't even know where do begin. I will simply say this.......Many people are having game breaking issues preventing them from logging in, others are having game breaking issues preventing them from moving forward in the main quest line, MANY bugs that have remained since BETA. So if you call that people being "Impatient and having a fit", so be it. I call it being soo frustrated, they have no other choice then to leave and take their business elsewhere, because they are paying for a service they are NOT receiving.

EDIT: Corrected the word "win" from "when" because the grammar tools like to deflect what the real issue is.

My guess is after weeks of progression blocking bugs, economy destroying exploits, and the polarized player-base either questing or exploit grinding, a massive exodus occurred.

If we wanted to just suffer through exploitation, broken progression, and completely detached and isolated social connections... we could be playing any one of a dozen or so free to play MMOs.

At least in free to play MMOs their customer service people can actually assist you with in game issues like broken quests. And most of them even do all they can to remove exploited currency, items, and character progression from the game as they become aware of it.

But no not Zennimacks, they want to blanket ban people like NCWest did to Aion players, ignore economy destroying exploits like Sony did to Vanguard players, and make a crap-load of promises they have no intention of keeping like Garriot did with his epic failure Tabula Rasa.

Well done Zennimacks... You took a crap on one of the greatest IP's in gaming history, just for the sake of some executive douchewaffle's bonus check. Well done. I hope the money you pay that idiot to do nothing whatsoever is well worth it.

Maybe you coulda spent about 10% of senior VP in charge of destroying the IP douchewaffle's salary and bonus to hire more customer service people though. Maybe then those subs wouldn't be getting canceled by the truckload daily.

Not being able to log in for 4-7 days is not a "fit". I cancelled my account over it since it was a holiday weekend which I had cleared my schedule to grind from vr7 to 12. They have 60+ days to impress me and prove that they're worth a subscription. Most people just did a monthly sub so they'll be gone sooner than later.

@Maverick827 Indeed. Some people appear to believe that it is a sacrilege not to continue to support something that fails to meet the particular player's requirements and insist on using emotive nonsense to illustrate their point. Ridiculous.

Do you like hearing yourself talk? Because obviously you don't have any clue what you are saying here. Please tell me what those that cannot:
    1. Log in due to the 301 error
    2. Cannot progress due to main quest line broke
    3. Numerous other game breaking issues

Are suppose to do? Keep paying a monthly sub and just wait for the issues to be "fixed" because the game is only 2 months old?

The game, in it's current state, is a glorified beta. The fact that class and weapon abilities and passives still don't work 2 months from launch is truly absurd. And, before you say "oh... all MMOs have bugs", I will say no decent MMO has those kinds of bugs.

I'm still here, for the time being, but, ZOS is showing how little experience they have in this arena. More importantly, ZOS is showing what the didn't learn from the mistakes others made in this arena.

Remember, until just about a month ago (you know, one month into the game), they let us believe they were launching on two console platforms this month.

So, I think it is fair to say that ZOS has not delivered anywhere near what they promised, nor have they done a good job of fixing issues that should never have made it into a launch.

Communication has gotten better. But, when you release patches that don't fix items you list in the patch notes, it's hard to expect your customer base is going to put up with it for very long. Some leave early, pissed off that they paid full retail for a game that is broken. Some wait for a while, hoping it gets better (and getting at least some value out of their initial investment). Make no mistake, though: If this game doesn't get some of this ironed out very quickly, we may not need to worry how they can possibly manage the game on 2 more platforms.

I think every vet player is now in either Craglorn (because that's now the best place for VR players to level and find loot) or their in Cyrodiil. The people still in VR zones are people who either a) are playing the game for the story or b) haven't yet realized that you don't HAVE to be VR10 to get into Craglorn.
