Bleakrock Afk Macro Exploiter

So here I am at Bleakrock working on starting an alt and i see a veteran two player sitting wedged in a corner spamming heals while 3 mobs tirelessly beat on him. At first i was confused as to what was going on. Yet I watched, and sure enough he would take just enough damage that he was running a heal every 10 seconds or so and his regen was making up for it, and it was healing him to full. So I sat for a brief moment, and then satisfied that the jerk was indeed afk and running a macro I pulled his mobs away one by one and killed them. I was correct, the mobs were dead and he kept spamming his heal till his macro broke. He then sat there for a good while in the corner looking like the scrub that he was untill he must have come back in his room to browse the internets. I would urge you guys if you see these jerks, kill their mobs and make them at least man the keyboard if they are going to be able to get away with being dirtbags. You break the macro, and the scrub gets logged out for inactivity takes less than 1min of your time and ruins 6-8 hours of afk grinding for the scrub.

    ... What's he even grinding?

I assume he is skill grinding. But I am not sure either.... I assume he was naked as well or his armor must have been non-existing by then.

He wasn't naked. But yes most likely skill grinding. Perhaps even leveling an armor type. That was my thought.

That's odd, because if I'm not mistaken, he wouldn't even be getting exp from that?

Also, it's a stupid way to grind skills too.

You are correct... Skills advance as a portion of XP's (only when they are equipped in your skill bar)...XP's advance with kills or quests (or books). They do not advance solely on use as in the Stand-alone ES games.

Sounds like he just didn't want to log out...he should have received nothing for this except broken armor. (Unless he was doing a macro test-run)
Just because you don't like the way something is doesn't necessarily make it wrong...

what business is it of yours what he's doing macro's are not against the rules and no a vr2 will not skill up armor or weapons in a noobie zone. Next time you are speeding i hope someone reports you to the police Mr/Mrs. Dudley Doright.

This. There is no positive to this activity. My first thought was that they were testing an add-on that may auto heal your character after going below x% HP, which could be useful to deal with burst damage. Though that's pure speculation, likely they just don't understand how skill increases work in eso and were noobing it up.

I'm certain terms of service don't allow for automated gameplay whilst you are afk. Otherwise what would be wrong with running a macro to harvest nodes for you while you sleep. The logic here is flawed.

Regardless, this person was receiving nothing for their efforts besides broken armor. Each mob gives a certain amount of exp when you kill it. Depending on the breakdown of skills on your bar, you receive a certain amount of exp toward each skill and skill line that is present, when the mob dies. Simply using a skill does not grant exp for that skill or its skill line.

This reminds me of leveling acrobatics in Morrowind by finding a corner, using a rubber band to hold down jump key and resting a heavy book on the forward joystick.

Receiving exp is not the point.

They were using a macro. It isn't right. Because, you know .. bots do the same thing, right? Or are you saying bots are okay too because they are using macros ....

Meh. It's sounds like a newbie to the game, who misunderstood how leveling worked. Maybe (s)he thought he could level something by continuing to cast healing spells - which is now it worked in the TES games.

If anything, you did him a favor by making him aware sooner than later that his macro scheme wasn't working.
