Dual wield is it worth it?

Hello fellow adventurers.

I rolled a Nord dragonknight with as a weapon 1H and shield, now I have been using 2H as a second skill since level 15 (level 38 now) but I am thinking to switch my 2H to dual wield.

I can easily tank enemies, but I wanted a weapon that can take down smaller enemies somewhat faster than a sword and shield, now I picked 2H due to it being able to hit multiple enemies at once.

Is it worth it to switch to dual wield or should I stick with 2H?

P.S. I care very little for the 15 percent increase in leveling based on my racial trait.

I've heard horror stories of dual wield haven't experienced them myself tho. That's mainly because I run almost entirely a magicka focused build. From what you said I think your stamina focused right?

The big question with dual wield is are you able to forgo not having a stamina based a gap close. (Been forced to take something like chains), and also you will need some other way to stun/immobilise enemies DKs have all this just not stamina based, and most of DW dps bonus comes from hitting stunned targets.

So yea entirely possible might need to tweak your build a tiny bit, just gonna throw this out, but DW AoE is awesome. If you have a way to AoE stun/root mobs.

I have a stamina based char, most of my build is focused upon tanking, hence the 1H and shield, now I started to notice (maybe a tad too late), that I am going to have more and more trouble with mobs, especially with dungeons.
I can take the damage and I have a reasonable damage output, but more enemies means more damage and still the same damage output.

Now two handed seemed to balance that somewhat, but its a side effect, so if dual wield has more AoE attacks is it more reasonable to go for that?

hmm interesting... is this a question just from the min-max potential or are you partial on how DW looks? Can you link your action bars? It would be highly dependent on the ccs that you have already.

In most cases I'd say stay 2h. but gotta see the above to render final veridict.

I tried dual wielding with both DK and NB (imperial for the melee leech passive) when I reached VR levels. Long story short, you might want to skip all of that until they scale damage properly with stamina based skills/weapons. You're really better off playing with a staff (Resto / destro) and light armor regardless of your class as of right now as it is clearly superior to melee. I don't like it either being a Nightblade; I currently play with bow / 2H and get my ass kicked all the time.

As a DK, you might want to use 1h/shield and AoE Dot everything + block or use a flame staff and pulse everything to death.

I really dislike magic. Not just this game but every game. I just like to hit stuff.

This is what I always keep hearing xD Haven't really experienced BUT then again I play with almost exclusively magicka spells and one filler DW attack + Light armor (I use jerkins cuz Dresses aren't my thing.)

Well I think I am not even going to be VR before it gets fixed. I have been playing since launch day with just one char who is lvl 37 (said 38 before but I was misstaken.)

I have a rather busy personal life so if I have time I play I will be playing.
