ARENA IN THE ELDER SCROLLS ONLINE

I don't know if anyone at ZeniMax has thought of this or not, but it was not mentioned in the list of upcoming additions. I have been dreaming of this since beta. Imagine how awesome it would be to have an arena where you could vs any player regardless of alliance. It would be a completely new facet that I'm sure tons of players would love. You could battle your way to the top of the leaderboards to become the Grand Champion, just like in Oblivion. There could be up to 12v12s and each victory would yield a reward. You could even bet gold on the outcome whether as a contestant or just a viewer. This would add so much replay value to the game and a much needed competitive side where players duke it out for fame, glory, wealth, and bragging rights.

There is new city coming. When they havnt said, but they have not said no to some sort of pvp in there.

Even though I am not a big fan of pvp, lets see what they come up with.
Cyro is awesome! I am MR catapult!

They have made no promises what so ever. And ESO isnt a 1-1 PvP. the PvP is part of the big story and armies against eachother to fight over who are to rule Tamriel.

I am not to sure here 1-1 pvp comes in here, other then fighting in Cyro where you happen to meet 1 enemy?

It stands to reason that if you have an army, they do not lift up a sword for the first time on the battle field. They practice fighting with each other.

Also, just because there is a war does not mean there are not personal feuds in the world.

There are many reasons two people would duel.

You just have to think for 2 seconds.

yes but they have the mages guild and fighters guild portrayed as neutral parties so its really not that crazy to think there's people in tamriel that don't care about the alliance war and simply fight for wealth

    Duels = / = arenas.

    Duels are perfectly fine.

Actually duels would help a lot to hunt for bugs too.

No they arent quite bad but keep in mind in Cyrodiil you have several ways to overcome fighting a stronger character.
You can outnumber him, you can ambush him, you can harass him without killing him.
When it comes to arenas, a small imbalance becomes a big deal.

    So, it becomes a L2P moment. :)

It will help players learn their characters better.

It would be a matter of L2P if all characters were equal.

Well, isnt that the whole reason for the PvP in ESO. Sieges, Battles and plans to make smaller groups do tasks?

Isnt that the whole idea instead of the boring 1-1 where the one who the best char skill/addon wins?

I am not against some sort of way to prove your worth, as a group or person in personal combat. But only as a test where no award what so ever other then fame is included.

Lets see what the new city...when it arrives, will bring?

As long as it comes after the Justice system is implemented. I wanna loot that sweet, sweet box o' gold.

In any case, if they do implement something similar to Oblivion's Arena I think they would do well to hand out specific gear similar in nature to the Light/Heavy Raiment but make it cover all equipment slots. This would make it more about skill and ability than zomg who haz moar epicz. It would also serve to force more balance between the classes; when everyone is on an equal playing field it becomes blatantly obvious which classes are naturally superior.

My greatest fear about adding in Arena though is that it will lead to nerfs on certain abilities that are perfectly balanced in the Alliance War and in PvE, but are "too strong" in Arena.

My comment was on the learning of the characters, not the imbalance.

You are spot on! The Pvp is made for Cyro and battlers there. If you add other types like an arena.....where will be instant problems with balancing, what to be allowed to use or whatever.

And I still ask, what use is there of them in ESO?

l2p implies it can be done .....try to 1vs one a dk on a sorc see how that works out for you or better yet try to 1vs1 my dk with your sorc. I have vet in both classes. I smile when I see a sorc on my dk I run when I see a dk on my sorc...

You see though, I also think that having smaller combat will help them to balance the classes more evenly. Idk, sounds like a win win all around. Though I'm sure people would get quite upset about certain things being op.

I have. My main is a templar as a matter of fact and I beat the crap out of DKs and Sorcs all the time 1v1.

    Its not even about classes.

Try to beat any light/staff build with a stamina/weapon build.

In the game's current state, arenas would be a thing for mages.
    Cyrodiil is for everyone.

you are right, but that would just help ZeniMax see that the DK needs another nerf xP. honestly tho, its easier to see imbalances in smaller combat so i think it would make the classes much more even.
