NB and critical

Hi everyone,

I finally came to reason and accepted the fact that my NB have to be (heavily) magica oriented to be over average.
So our abilities scale with our max magica and spell damage. Ok I can live with that.
But, do we crit from physical crit or spell crit?
I made some research on different sites and I couldn't find a straight answer to this. From my understanding it seems that depending on the skill it crit from physical or spell crit.
How the hell am I supposed to guess which crit from what? My best guess is that anything that hits like a blade or blow is linked to physical and the rest is spell crit.
If this the case, am I the only one to think that that kind of information should be mandatory in the ability's tooltip? You know so we don't stack spell crit if we use abilities that crit on physical...
Oh well, we already had/have to guess from the tooltip what an ability might do (if it worked) so I shouldn't be so surprised.

your better off just making a DK. Nightblades have been complained about since October and still have not been addressed, may as well follow the crowd and roll a DK or a Sorc.
I'm giving this game till Dark Brotherhood release to see if they actually fix stamina based combat. If it doesn't change by then, I will more than likely go back to WoW and play Warlords of Draenor.

FOTMs are not fun to play and going to be nerfed anyway.

Oh I have another question about Armor and Spell resistance. How do I know which one apply to my abilities? Not that it really matters considering the poor mitigation it seems to do, but hey just to have a better understanding of my "class" I'd like to know.
Looking at how critical works my best guess would be: the same way...

I dont know, i dont have any offensive spell/skill on my bar except concealed weapon so i never thought about it.

Killer's Blade and morphs use weapon crit
Death Stroke and morphs use weapon crit
Veiled Strike and morphs use weapon crit

Strife and morphs use spell crit
Cripple and morphs use spell crit
Drain Power and morphs use spell crit
Soul Shred and morphs use spell crit

Those are all the ones I know off hand/have recently tested

I agree that there is a lack of transparency in the mechanics. Why can't I view future morphs in-game without add-ons? Why some descriptions of skills are detailed, giving exact percentages and numbers, while others are nebulous?

For example, the following things are quite unclear:
- How much damage based on distance does Critical Rush add;
- What constitutes 'low health' in Assassin's Blade;
- What is the chance of knocking people off balance in Mirage;
- How much is a 'high damage' attack in Soul Shred.

And so forth. It honestly doesn't seem difficult to implement better descriptions. Perhaps the players are expected to try every skill on their own, but there is no combat log without an add-on, so you can only make rough guesses.

I am sticking with my NB, I tried SORC and didn't like playing the class.

They are tweaking classes and skills all the time, little by little so just give it time. I do hope they improve the tooltips though some are slightly vague.

I'm sticking with my NB 2h tank too. By far the most fun. I dont care if class xy is doing xy better than me, i will never understand those FOTM roller.

From time to time I enjoy leveling my templer too if i need a break

General rule of thumb is, if it looks like a melee attack then it uses weapon crit.

Less than 25% health. As soon as they hit 25% I start spamming this ability.
