...with the abbrupt stopping of mercs and the lowering of population cap (thus locking out players)... DC (EU Dawnbreaker) was able to wipe the map we were holding up until that time. In fact now they have a real shot of taking first place. All thanks to ZeniMax of course...
Why is population caps a problem? People (who have lives) only have so much time to play. When they are locked out during basically the entire afternoon/evening due to caps they cannot PvP on their server. With guesting elite populations using this to their advantage as well on rival factions this means that your server's balance is destroyed. As a result your faction is "nerfed' because you are not able to surge and take map in primetime like usual. And over time people quit the game/transfer servers.
Then the game becomes a nightcapping operation: Forget primetime play... just cap the night. /easymode /roflstomp especially without mercenaries. The one-two punch of changes thus destroy the balance of PvP.
