Reasons for Cancelling My Subscription

I unsubbed last night. I will list my reasons why here since Zenimax has no sub cancellation survey like every other MMO out there who is concerned about losing customers. This really baffles me. I mean customer retention is NOT a goal with this company.

This is not a goodbye since I still have 2 months left on my sub. Yes I foolishly purchased 3 months. Lesson learned. This is my reasoning as to why this game has lost this customer and why it will continue to lose more players.

Anyhow, my list:
  • Lack of communication
  • Poor patch implementation-fix bugs that create more bugs. Yes this is to be expected but by no means is acceptable on the scale in which this occurs with this game.
  • Class Balance
  • Poor Marketing-Shoving Craglorn in our faces, stating we can play the classes how we want (which while not neccesarily untrue, to be successful at solo/group play you need to primarily stick with staff/magicka builds).
  • Botting programs and Exploits not being fixed in a more timely manner- the dupe exploit was a known issue well before launch and is ultimately the rock that started the landslide known as our broken economy.
  • Poor Guild Store functions or lack of an Auction House
  • Lack of communication in regards to the above issues as to a plan of action other than the obligatory 'we are monitoring it' or my favorite 'keep an eye out for it in an upcoming patch'.

I really wanted this game to be wonderful. Something full of Elder Scrolls lore and depth like the single player games. Something I could share with my friends, family, guildmates. Something that would entertain me for a long time.

@Natjur My main is a Nightblade. I did reach VR8. I was/am DW/Bow. The class is playable but not fun in its current state. I've even attempted to roll alts like the Sorc and DK but find the idea of leveling through the content again to be mind numbingly tedious.

Hopefully its not locked. Like I stated, Its not a good bye thread, its reasons why I have cancelled my subscription which is different since I have time left to play the game.

    That made me giggle.

There is nothing wrong with new content. In any other scenario, specifically one where the game was more polished, this would have been a bright and shining star for this game.

However, it cannot be since it was all over the forums, it was plastered on the launcher so you saw it every time you logged in. I could care less about content that was so far away from where I was level wise. I just wanted simple things fixed in the game vs. new content.

Also there is such a large disparity in polulations between hard core (endgame rushing) and casuals that it has killed the VR zones. They have destroyed their own game with Craigslorn.

Hah, yeah I had the same reaction. Not to mention that Craglorn was expected to be playable by launch and a lot of people were upset that it didn't come out sooner even.

Many people unrealistically expected a new game which logically already is providing new content, I mean new game=new stuff right? To expect a 'new' zone to be out at launch is unrealistic. My comment should not be funny. It should make you angry that it was the focus and not fixing current game issues.

AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! Please no MOAR new content I cant handle it!!!!! Get it out muh face!!
Force weapon swap to have priority over EVERYTHING. Close enough.
Make stamina builds even with magicka builds.
    Disable abilities while holding block.
Give us a REASON to do dungeons more than once.
Remove PVP AoE CAP. It is ruining Cyrodiil.
Fix/Remove Forward Camps. They are ruining Cyrodiil.
Impenetrability needs to REDUCE CRIT DAMAGE. Not negate entire builds.
Werewolf is not equal to Vamps/Bats.

I knew that this would show up here. Yes, I am aware of the structure in development/IT departments. Yes I know that there is a specific team that works on and creates new content.

Are you aware that there is a decision making process where you plan out what is to take priority in releasing. Did you realize it would have been more beneficial to at least give of the perception of fixing/working on current issues as opposed to providing uneeded new content a few weeks after launch.

As I have stated in another post, perception is everything. The perception for most that are cancelling is that a quick money grab is all that is important versus the longevity of the game.

I'm a VR6 Templar and still paying subscription even if I'm still infuriated by NBs and Templars being broken while Sorcs and DKs are insanely OP.

If you're a DK or Sorc quitting I have no sympathy for you. You picked the FOTM that happened to remain untouched for three months.

I'm still hopeful that class balance will be achieved soon. Unfortunately Zenimax was not pro-active in balancing classes and now it will seemingly occur in the negative of nerfing.

Look, you aren't the only person who plays the game. There's a hardcore PvE crowd too that wanted to know exactly what endgame PvE would be like before buying the game. Adventure Zones (like Craglorn) were described as that endgame PvE for some time yet no details were given and it ended up not being available at launch. It was essentially an MMO without endgame content for PvEers so that needed to be rectified quickly before those PvEers started getting to max level en masse, or they'd end up with another SWTOR.

I'm not even one of these PvEers. I could care less about Craglorn specifically. If it came out 6 months from now I'd be fine. But I can at least look at the bigger picture and realize that my concerns are not everyone's concerns.

So yes, the fact that you complained that they added endgame PvE content that was supposed to be available at launch is humorous to me. I pretty much don't agree with anything in your list actually, hence why I have no intention of cancelling and you're already on your way out. To each his own.

I have not said goodbye. Reading comprehension please. I am still playing the game. I have 2 months left. Maybe they fix things and it changes my mind. I have cancelled my sub and here are the reasons why. That is what the post is in TLDR format for you folks replying with the ever so popular in before lock jargon.

I understand why people like you feel the need to respond with the "I dont agree with anything you stated here so its not true what you said" replay. You do not want to see the game die. I get it. I have been there. SWG, SWtoR, AoC are a few that I was in denial about.

To say I am wrong and is incorrect when so many feel the same way and have spoken with their wallets. I am glad that there are those here that have their own thoughts and yes disagree with me, but please you better arguments instead of what the other trained monkeys use.

Greetings, @Mablung. First, thank you for taking the time to play ESO. We've read all of your feedback, and we appreciate you taking the time to provide it.

We wanted to let you know that we have closed this thread, as it's veered off course. Although this is not a typical goodbye/quitting thread as you're still actively playing, we tend to not allow these types of threads because they go downhill very quickly. We do hope that as you adventure in Tamriel over the coming weeks, you continue to provide your feedback in-game using the "/feedback" command. Player feedback is a critical part in making ESO the best it can be.

Thank you again for providing us with your feedback, and we hope you'll continue to join us in-game in the future.
