Let us use emotes while in combat

Why not?!

I mean, who doesn't want to /playdead and see if they fall for it, or do /brushoff as a lil' newbie tries to gank you to no avail.

I don't see why we shouldn't be able to do this anyhow.
_________EDIT:
I would just much more perfer being able to use certain emotes while in motion.

Doing /torch would be real useful if you can walk while holding it.

This, this is an elder scrolls game so obviously we have tons of roleplayers out there. The animations that only require the upper half of your body should keep going while you walk, and stop when you say... jump or /stop or something.

Then again there are emotes like /drunk that change how NPCs walk and we just sort of... Sit there.

Hell, i always wanted to just combine /sitchair and /eat2!

The "/playdead" idea would be great against a zerg - Oh look, here comes a power crazed mob of 100, right, / p l a y.......sod it, too late, I AM dead.
or do /brushoff as a lil' newbie tries to gank you to no avail.

VR12, "Now this is cute, a little level 10 is trying to gank me, now let's see, / b r u sh .....Oh ***, where did they come from ? ( as zerg of 100 blasts over the hill to support the level 10)".

BTW, I'm sure this idea would go down very well in group combat - "sorry I forgot to heal you, I was just emoting a victory dance because I managed to open this expert chest while you were all busy dying. Guys......why have you kicked me.........?"

Oh please, its purely for fun. It's the player's responsibility what they do with this :P. Some things can be here for the lulz and purely for the lulz.

Well you titled this thread "Let us use emotes while in combat". My response was an attempt to point out, in a humorous ("lulz" ?) manner, some of the possible issues with your suggestion. .

They could do almost the same thing in any other chat or anything else. Distractions are everywhere.

"this people" will screw things anyways, no matter what ZOS allow us or not, they will find a way..

no play dead in fight it s ridiculous, if you really want it, just ask for a skill to use in fight to fake death. Your are doing something it s an active game play so have to be a skill

I see nothing wrong with emotes actually having functionality in game.
thats some creative use for playdead.
And /torch could actually be useful
Even some creative uses for /horn

    *snip*

This entire post is full of win, but I especially giggled at that first bit. To be honest though, that is kinda the point of being able to do /emotes in combat. I've played games with taunts. And there was nothing funnier or more satisfying than killing someone taunting. What? You were trying to be a ***, showing off to the person you killed? Now you're dead. \o/

Ah, see the point is that the chances of them falling for it is very slim. So when they do its all the more funnier.

Yes this is a great idea. I want to /emote over players' dead bodies so many times but I can't because I'm in combat :(

Fix this please ZOS! Should be a real easy fix.

It would also be cool if enemy players could see what we type in /say and /yell provided they are in the appropriate range. I think that would add a level of realism to the game (people can hear what you say in real life) plus a little bit of trash talking is always a good thing :)

I was talking about yelling or saying things to enemy players defending/attacking a keep. Sorry I didn't make that clear. I think that if you are dead, you shouldn't be able to read any form of communication until you respawn.

If you have time to use Emotes during combat, you're doing it wrong. LOTRO thief has a play dead skill that instantly took aggro off you but it had a timer on it so PvP was not a good place to try to use it. ;)

No need to apologise, I managed to completely misread your previous comments. I actually believe it's a good idea, though it could be a distraction from instructions being given in Zone. I think it would also require the addition of an "open" chat channel in Cyrodiil, which could encourage spying.

There are already lots of ways to taunt using emotes. Yesterday two VR12's started dancing just out of range after I tried to lure them into fighting a keep's gate guards.
I thought it was quite funny and wish I had emoted something in reply. Anyway, I'm not against using emotes, I just don't believe they are a replacement for weapons / spells and would only consider using them when death is not imminent.

You competely misunderstood what I said. I said doing /torch would be useful if you can walk by holding it.

using /torch, you hold the torch. But as soon as you move, the torch goes away.
