High Elf Sorcerer need assistance

I am looking for an effective DPS build/skill rotation for PvP.

I have tried a number of different builds and cannot find one I like. It seems I cannot do enough damage quickly enough.

Currently, I am VR6. Use 5 Light and 2 Heave Armor.
My weapons are a Destructive staff and Rest. Staff, However I have also put points into a bow.

Any advice is welcome,

Thanks,

would recommend using 7 light for the extra spell penetration. not much point using heavy as most ppl dont run stamina builds so the extra armor is not that helpful. in terms of rotation, v. curse -> mages wrath -> crystal fragments ( if procced) is ur best spike dps. if u use them in this order they will all hit at around the same time. fragments if procced will hit slightly earlier depending on travel distance. also u should run inner light for the 20% extra crit.

Is there a way to cut down on the induction for Crystal Frag? It seems like I can cast because I keep getting interrupted.

u need to wait for the proc that makes it instant. just kite ppl with curse+bolt escape till u get a proc. if u cast it without proc it takes a ton of mana and ppl have more than enough time to block. then again a smart player will hold down block the moment he sees ur hands glow. ur lucky tho, todays mmo generation is far from beeing smart.

Ok, so i fall into that generation...:)

I have no idea what you mean by Proc...

Also, I notice I have crystal blast, not frag. Should I reset? Is Frag better?

Sorcerer pvp is very challenging unless you have a group of people between you and the enemy where you can focus and cast your spells in peace.

In 1v1 situations, I typically escape from DKs, because they can outheal or reflect the damage I do and just outlast me, typically. So don't fight DKs one on one.

The other classes, I mainly use velocious curse, degeneration, and crystal shards when it procs. It's not exactly burst damage, but non-DK classes will usually fall to it.

Im also a high elf sorc and have experimented with a few builds. the build i stick with most is 7 light armor with a destro staff for dps and 2nd bar resto staff however i only use a destro staff because of the wrath of imperium set that grants me 10% crit with 3 pieces, i wud be using a resto staff for 10% damage passive or snb for the huge defensive benefits if i didnt have wrath of imperium set.
My dps bar i have crystal fragments, velocious curse, endless fury, inner light and ball of lightning. rotation depending on target is usually crystal fragments x2, velocious curse then endless fury with a few weapon attacks inbetween cast's, if timed right u can get huge burst from your 2 dots if the target is on low health and recover magika from endless fury when the devs get round to fixing it. It works well in most situations but like Ruddertail said above competent Dk's will just laugh as they reflect or heal thru it, also watch for bow users if they are smart they will interupt your crystal fragments so be sure to bolt/blink during fights usually thru your target to stun then and get the insta cast proc from crystal fragments.

ya fragment is alot better. u get a 35% chance (proc) on use of ANY skill that consumes magicka to make ur next crystal fragments instant cast and cost 50% less magicka.

you have to outsmart DK´s. obviously dont cast stuff at them when they have relfect up (kinda obvious). when they use green dragon blood just bolt away and dark exchange. DK´s cant keep up with sorcs very well anymore now that snb is pretty gimp. dark exchange is extremely powerful in combination with ball of lightning. reflect and green dragon blood arent cheap on magicka so they cant use them forever. nevertheless its ofc the hardest fight out of all classes u can encounter and requires very good resource management but its not impossible.

dont use endless fury, even if it wasnt bugged ur losing a big chunk of dps. mages wrath can hit almost as hard as fragments. also that rotation is not very good as it requires u to basically stand still for 4 secs while ur casting ur 2x fragments which can easily be blocked and cost a crapton of magicka if casted without the proc. better to open up with v. curse and keeping ur distance while u wait for fragments proc. combination of curse and ball of lightning will get it procced rather quickly.

basically what u wanna do is keep curse up at all times and bolt escape till u get proc. once u get proc u do ur fragments and if u feel like ur fragment + curse gets ur target below 20% u add mages wrath to the rotation. order should be curse -> mages wrath -> (procced) fragments. depending on the distance to ur target all 3 spells will hit at once.

u really never wanna cast crystal fragments without the proc cos its 1) very easy to block and b) even if it doesnt get blocked costs ALOT of magicka. only exception is if ur in stealth and attacking a guy on a mount as he will most likely not realize whats happening anyway.

Crystal Fragments is the core spell of most Sorcerers in PvP currently.

It's important to understand the mechanics and that is what the 'proc' is about.
Short for 'Procedure' i.e. a subroutine, a proc is a piece of code that runs under specific conditions and does something interesting.
In the case of CF, the spell 'procs' randomly when another spell uses magicka. When CF procs, your character's hands glow bright purple and crucially, the next use of CF is instant-cast.. It's a free kill.

So, the trick is to use a couple of spells that use magicka before you try to use CF and if you get a proc, you hit with CF. If you don't get a proc - spend some more and hope.

The spells I find most useful for this are Velocious Curse, Mage's Fury, and (my favouritel) Bolt Escape.

Practice in PvE by blowing up some lower level mobs. Try this:-
Open with VC. (Hands glowing yet? - probably not)
Hit it with MF - that may seem premature - but remember, you have 4 seconds to reduce the mob to 20% and MF will do it's low-health execute (technically it's a proc of course)
By now, your hands will probably glow - now fire CF and watch that mob explode! all three spells go off at once.

Starting an attack by gap closing with BE is another way to spend magikca. In Cyrodiil it's often enough to chase after someone with BE to get that proc. Fire CF then MF and watch them twitch.

I'll leave you to think about other possible sequences.
'Clever' sigs get old real fast - just like this one.
