Everytime they bring down the servers during Australian peak hours they should give Australian players 1 day free. They have our billing information. They know who we are.
I agree, I love this game but so tempted to give it away due to cost and maintenance done all the time, not to mention the amount of bots etc in game that make it difficult as well

I think what is happening is Wildstar is completely flopping right now as I type and ESO is getting a larger than normal influx of players so ZOS has to do some backend work real quick to make sure everyone can enjoy ESO.

It definitely flopped with me. I've already uninstalled it.

Don't worry, you will still be able to play the game. Maintenance is not going to last forever.

Pull up the big girl panties... maintenance is what is needed more than anything on this game.

Read a few pages of a book, pull up some nudity on the net and wrestle your monster, grab a shower... you probably smell a little. There's another good option in my sig.

See you in game in short amount of time not even worth complaining over... :D

What kind of genius company take an RPGMMO off line for maintenance at 8am Saturday morning or 10pm Australian time, which is prime gaming time, regardless whether it is supposed to be a 'short maintenance'!

The rage in this thread leads me to believe only one thing: Everyone LOVES ESO so much that they cannot live a single moment without it.

NO, i would just like to play a game that i pay for during the weekend, which is the only time i can play due to work during the week

I think they'd probably avoid a lot of the nerdrage (my own included) if they just did a better job of communicating. If the unscheduled maintenance is for a semi-critical issue (which I'm assuming it would be), just say that in the notice. Otherwise, folks are just going to assume that ZOS is full of idiots and could've waited until Monday for the regular maintenance period.

But whatever the case, not much we can do about it, so no use in getting super upset.

Using this metaphor then it is always a bad time to take the servers down for someone.

I don't remember if they said maintenance or patch....regardless I realize this is a point most will not like...(I am happy when they do anything on the game personally) but the Terms of Service of the game that we all agreed to most likely has a little clause about maintenance and server downtime for fixing things.

A new game is going to have a lot of this. It is frustrating but that is how this works. Even some other "big" MMOs have had to make odd maintenance times or extend usual down times.

Go read a book...your brain will thank you.

I try to have a good view of others always, but the post you responded to (which is also the one I responded to) leads me to believe that some people have a view of the globe whereby the US covers most of it, and then there's just "everywhere else".

Where are Australasian players supposed to play, in your esteemed view? Especially given that both the NA and the EU servers are in the same place at the moment, they haven't even had a chance to see which server gives better ping. Even EU players don't currently have a server located in Europe. Just giving some consideration to others before putting your hands on your keyboard would be a really nice idea :)

The QQ in this game is unbelievable. People QQ about bugs, then they QQ when the bugs get fixed. I know it's not Skyrim or Oblivion where there is no maintenance, but in MMO there is usually maintenance. That's where they fix things. It's understandable though how players who are used to single player games like Skyrim are not used to maintenance. Unfortunately it is part of playing an MMO, but it's good because they fix things. Go do other things for a couple of hours, the world isn't going to end because you couldn't log on for a couple of hours. If you don't want to deal with maintenance then go back to Skyrim or something.

EDIT: And in my experience Australian (and NZ, let's not forget them in their little islands) players tend to whinge the most like the world is ending, when they make up the smallest demographic and are lucky to be listened to at all. They aren't doing it to you on purpose, they are trying to fix things so chillax out and go do other stuff, it will be online again soon.

I hardly think the small Australiasian community who complain about downtime during their weekend are likely to terrorize any forum, they would just prefer it if the weekly maintenance took place - oh I don't know, let's get surreal here - 24 hours earlier, so it's not slap bang in the middle of their weekend?

Unless he has not gotten far into the game, not as if he can just start over on EU servers anyway. Besides, if NA servers are closer than EU, I can understand.

They are housed in the same location currently as the EU migration hasn't occurred that I'm aware.

Situation 1: The server is downed and maintenance performed in a organized timely fashion.

Situation 2: The server crashes and the server is down until people can get in to the office and get everything back in order.

    I vote situation 1!

I like the game but this is unacceptable. This is prime time as in the few previous moments I get to play the game. If the game is down during prime time then what is the point in paying because I don't have a chance to get on often during the week. I don't care if this is a short maintenance. I have other things to do today. I'm not going to be able to come back and check on it until maybe this evening. So I just lost nearly 1/8th of my months play time. If this happens again consider my account closed. This is what Tuesdays are for. Get your act together ZOS or you're fired.

Okay but NOWHERE EVER did Zeni or anyone else ever say there would be a server in the Southern Hemisphere.

Anyone in the Southern Hemisphere, as unfair as it is, should really have expected things to occur at times relevant to where the servers are/should be.

Expectations of anything other than that is like buying apples then complaining that they taste nothing like oranges.

I also would pefer to be able to play a game i paid $120 to preorder and then $15 a month, DURING PRIME TIME!

You can, when NA is under maintenance you can utilize the EU server, and vice versa. No you don't have the same characters on both, but you do have 24/7 access to the game. And yes I understand that is not what you want to hear, and that most likely you have download limits given your geographic location etc. Regardless of other considerations that are, in all fairness, outside the control of Zenimax, you do in reality already have exactly what you are requesting. I use both servers myself when I don't wish to be down for maintenance. While yes you may very well have perfectly valid reasons why this option isn't viable, place the blame where it belongs instead of upon Zenimax's doorstep. They are not to blame for those other reasons.
