yesterday. VR9, in VR9 zone, fighting normal mobs. Heavy armor wearing 1 hand and shield, armor over charged, spell resistance over charged, and normal VR 9 trash mob "Draugr Bane uppercut 1722 damage". I wear all blue and purple VR9 gear, playing a tank style toon and finally realized, whats the point. heavy armor mitigates no more then light. Go Light armor and staff with class abilities or go home sigh...... (feeling more bitter then I should I know)

Hold right click on your mouse to block the uppercuts with your shield. If you're out of stamina completely, you are doing it wrong.

Based on a lot of responses it is pretty clear I didn't voice why I was frustrated very well. I get the blocking, stamina etc. really I do. been doing heavy armor sword and shield since the very beginning (even defending it a lot). Simply put, I would be a far more effective DK if I used light armor, staff and 90% magica abilities and I find that just frustrating, but that's me

Do you really think someone grinding in heavy armor in a VR 9 zone is some how unaware to what the default block key is mapped to?

Apparently because he was getting hit by something that should have been blocked in the first place and then complains about it. Followed by essentially saying that the heavy armor should have mitigated the majority of said damage instead. Then wtf would be the point in needing to block at all? It's simple... you block when you need to, or get smashed. It's called a consequence.

The forums aren't fun for me anymore because of whining, yet, here I am whining about it.

Ironically, the forums are more entertaining to me than the game currently is

yes and thats worrying , i know my cycle of MMO's usually goes.. i love the game and rarely visit the forums as i,m having too much fun... then it moves to phase 2. things are broken need improvment i spend time and effort on the forums in the hope the game i love can be made healthier cos i still care... then if nothing changes phase 3. i spend more time on the forums than in game, more in hope than expectation.
    4. lastly if nothing improves.. i unsub and play all the games ive been looking at while i was devoted to the MMO..

So many issues, but the proverbial straw that broke the camels back was the craglorn update that screwed so much stuff up. At that point I decided I wasn't paying them another $15 to test their beta.

OMG! So many self-entitled cry-babies! Just stop with the complaining! I don't care about your 'thoughtful' evidence as to why it's below your expectations. Good day!

My thoughts exactly! The amount of toxic whining is just unreal... I think people are just tired of MMOs in general and keep game hopping in the hopes to relive that first crush they had. I am enjoying ESO just fine *shrug* perhaps because i make my own fun. Also the vast majority of people complaining are vr levels. Perhaps you rushed a bit through the game? Us lowbies are still having fun. Perhaps return in a few months when they've put more energy catering to the 'dash to vr' crowd?

Each patch has addressed dozens of points. I'm a programmer in client server software like MMOs are and know all too well the complexity involved and how fixing one thing can break three more after a release. My customers pay six figures for our software and are never this toxic when complaining about bugs .

MMOs are a really cheap hobby compared to most

How in the world is this constructive? Do you really think someone grinding in heavy armor in a VR 9 zone is some how unaware to what the default block key is mapped to?

Ya know if you bind another key to that interrupt, I use CapsLock, it will auto bash when you hit it. Very handy, the right button just blocks unless you bash with the left.

I had tolerated the bugs and problems throughout the game--the broken loading screens, cyrodiil crashes, broken skills that made gameplay difficult (vamps abusing batform), the lag between weapon swaps, unresponsive mailbox, chat lag, lack of search options in trading posts, broken LOS issues with stealth, ect ect ect a whole slew of problems. But I was in it for pvp, and I wanted to reach max level (VR10) so I could really enjoy myself. I had reached VR 6, it was a gruelingly tedious task, had spent upwards of 200 hours of gametime between leveling (and occasional PVP every so often to maintain sanity). Then I saw it, VR12 on the horizon. I realized then two things:

    1. Those two additional VR levels would require HOURS upon HOURS of WORK to obtain. More gruelingly mindless work. Work. Like, "Oh time to come home from a long day at work and begin my shift on ESO to reach 25% more progress on my VR bar".

    2. Those two additional VR levels would certainly not be the last. I erroneously assumed this game had a ceiling, much like GW2. You reach level 80, and everything from then on out for the most part is a cosmetic grind, thus its optional and has no bearing on how strong my character is. This game...I realized...would not have a ceiling. VR10 wasn't the ceiling, and VR12 wasn't the ceiling. Suddenly I thought of things like .. VR15 available by October. VR20 by December. This was the introduction of an endless grind, though not a gear grind like WoW, but a level grind. Just as bad, and I wasn't going to subject myself to it. Getting to VR6 was absurd enough, the thought of VR12, 16, 20, and beyond wasn't out of the question.

Account cancelled. Though this wasn't the only reason, but it certainly played a big role in my decision to do so. The other part of the problem was the endless amounts of bugs (described above), the genuinely un-intuitive feel of the game, and the new problems patch after patch. Overall, this game in its current state of affairs should not have a subscription tied to it, if anything the players ought to be charging a subscription to the developers for having to harrow through such a miserable & broken product.
