Templar (yet another) suggestions

Hey! I didn't want to start another whining post about Templar being underpowered compared to X and Y, so I'm going to try to point out those skills that personally think would need a little boost.
This is just stuff I see every day while playing as a v12 Templar and the though of "if this would be just tweaked a little" have come to mind so many times since I started levelling, that I though, why not, just throw it in there.

It all basically revolves around magicka management - obviously - and then some missing AoE CC and some abilities/passives that don't seem to be working as good as they should to me, due to exaggerated costs, high penalties or regen values that turn a potentially great skill into a clumsy one. I think dps is fine, as long as our survival and magicka gets a little boost.

Restoring Spirit (passive):
Reduce Magicka costs by 12%
Recuce Stamina costs by 8%
Reduce Ultimate costs by 4%

Rune Focus
Great skill, if it wasn't for the utter-small area...why?? In a game where you are forced to constantly move specially when tanking.

Make the radius be something like 5m (like Circle of Protection, not huge but big enough to move a couple meters and still be in the circle).

morph: Channeled Focus
recovers 3% of total magicka every 0.5s.

Spear Shards
Deals x damage to enemies in area and stun them (all) for 2 seconds.
morph 1: adds an AoE dot.
morph 2: stuns last longer (4s).

Sun Shield
The penalty of no magicka regen... it makes no sense to me being this the only pure survival skill we have, and specially having in mind how much magicka we consume?

Remove competely the penalty, or at least make it something more bearable like -25% magicka regen. penalty.

Backlash
The casting duration (1.5s) is too long. I'd rather see this duration shortened to half, or even taken out.

Blinding Flashes
The cost is too expensive for the short duration it has, and all in all, it is something unreliable due to RNG even ticking every 2s. So I think it should be just slightly more spammable.
This is the only true AoE class CC, but the cost and duration makes it something almost good. I'm still trying to find the right fight to use this, but Volcanic Rune seems to beat Blinding Flashes in every situation 99% of the time.
Imo a possible tweak could be reducing the cost and increasing the duration from 4s to 6s, ticking every second.

Nova (ultimate)
Too expensive and shorter duration than other similar Ultimates from other classes.
200 ultimate cost & 15s duration would follow the same cost / duration lines as DK's Standard if Might & NB's Veil of Blades.

My two cents. Love the class and I know it will get the tweak it deserves at some point. Have fun!

    Death Recap for Templars
Have you tried rerolling to a Sorcerer or Dragonknight?
Templars do more dps than DK's.

I feel a mana build templar (I have a v12 and v1) are easy to play and have very few problems. I think all 4 classes as a mana / light build are easy to play. My first Templar I wanted to be heavy armor and S&B but could not get past v1 at all. So I just started a Heavy armor DK and am having the same problem... To make the templar better why not add mana regen on Heavy armor as a passive and the ability to get mana back from S/B abilities?

Mana regen passive on heavy armour would be a bad idea IMO, it would just increase the defenses of every magicka based DPS class and build. The general concept is that whichever route you take should not allow a 'god mode' build, everything good element within a build must be countered by a compromise somewhere else.

In simple terms - good dps is generally countered by poor(er) defenses etc.

For the OP, I would much rather they put more time into making viable stamina builds somewhere (not necessarily just Templar) rather than forcing another class further down the magicka build route. As it is, stamina builds are almost entirely sub-standard compared to magicka in just about every area.

Agreed, right now templars are good at a support role and a support role only, they only hit the bottom levels of 'decent' at everything else. They lack the flexibility of every other class.
