Caltrops - Still Bugged, Still Destroying PVP

Since the olden days, hordes of Romans, Spartans, and other ancient empires hoisted caltrops over their head to fend off incoming artillery fire. They would catch boulders weighting hundreds of kilograms flung at them from almost a thousand meters off right on the tip of a pointy piece of iron held aloft by an infantry man. He would then carry this out to Arizona and leave it there to form national parks.

The Huns would strap caltrops to their feet and walk around on them, using them as sandals, to prevent being killed by an onager sitting atop a fortified city's wall.

And let us never forget the last major usage of caltrops during modern warfare, when the Kaiser's army used them to prevent all artillery fire from the fortress of Lille in Belgium, guaranteeing the occupation of that country during WW1.

... wait, what do you mean they're not supposed to work that way?

THEN WHY CAN'T THE DEVS FIX/DISABLE THE SKILL?!

    That's far too long.
The game crashes whenever we form groups.
We still cannot get out of combat until the dead person resses.

All game breaking stupid stuff that should be hot fixed.

    To be blunt: So what?

It's been weeks dealing with this. They used the vaguery of 'shortly after' Craglorn. Craglorn came out last week. They could have used this week's maintenance for a quick patch to correct or at least disable it to prevent further exploiting.

They hotfixed Kardala farming and VR mob difficulty before the weekend was out after Craglorn, but this has been allowed to fester.

It is absolutely ruining pvp balance and when combined with the harder difficulty of the guards, smaller factions are utterly noncompetitive. They can't take a keep nor can they hold a keep as a more populous faction just puts a ram on the door and puts caltrops under it -- guaranteeing the keep falls in under 10 minutes. Counter siege does nothing.

The response time is unacceptable. The continued silence is unacceptable. The people exploiting without any negative consequence are unacceptable.

Set the skill cost to 1million, make it so it can't be used until further code can correct the functionality.

Or better yet, fix your game, ZOS.

This is why the game is dying. This game could have been amazing, but instead they let exploits run rampant for far to long(quick siphon craglorn anyone). ZENIMAX YOU NEED TO HOTFIX *** OUTSIDE OF MAJOR CONTENT PATCHES INSTEAD OF ROLLING IT ALL INTO ONE.

It has gone on for far too long. Between this, and people knowing how to spawn guards that are invulnerable now, I have seen a massive drop in the people I usually PvP with. I am not even bringing up some of the other things that are happening. There has been a massive drop in people in PvP and it is mostly do to the time it takes for ZOS to patch a gamebreaking exploit.

The PVP community -- the people who have this skill due to having Assault/Support at 6 -- are begging you to at least disable the skill, ZOS.

@ZOS_JessicaFolsom -- Tell them to turn it off. Take it away until it can be properly fixed.

I am very, very tempted to start putting in bug reports stating that Caltrops are preventing damage from PvE bosses in Craglorn, just to see how fast they jump on it.

Also not the mention their quick and dirty hotfix style, oh people were using consuming trap to get mana/stam/health from critters? Ok, lets make it where you cant cast any spell with a critter targeted(EVEN A SELF HEAL). I'm pretty sure the Quick Siphon exploits also stems from lazy and/or inexperienced coding.

OTOH, I've watched people walk THROUGH a scroll gate, set up a forward camp, and then undock a scroll.

Did I mention the victim faction had all their home keeps at the time?

    Good times.

Campaigns are ghost towns now anyways. I'm so angry because this game has so much potential, but if there is nobody to play it with whats the point. These ultra-slow development cycles are killing it.

I've seen people fly over castle walls (not Dragon Knight pulled, fly through the air superman style). I also saw one dude float underground, get a scroll, float back underground, float under and across the map, then place it in their own keep.

You realize they said this like 3 weeks ago right? Meanwhile PVP has been bleeding out and dying.
    Cyrodiil Issues as of 6/3/2014
    - Massive Lag since Craglorn patch.(Still bad lag on "Laggajack" NA and some other campaigns.)
    - Forward Camps and other Siege bugging out frequently
    - Caltrops granting Immunity to Siege Weapon Damage
    - Massive Faction Imbalances in Most Campaigns / Several Dead Campaigns
    - Mercenary Mage Spam (sometimes causing them to go invulnerable)
    - Players exploiting Keeps/Scrolls through DK Chain Pulls to go around defenses

    Yay Zenimax is doing things.

Caltrops need fixing but so do a great deal of other abused mechanics in PVP. I'm not really a fan of oil being placed on flat floors and keeping entire rooms held with no counter.

For those screaming they should hotfix ASAP what happens when they don't test that fix and then break something, will you be the same ones screaming on the forums that they're terrible at patches because they break everything.

What about when they turn the servers off every night to "hot-fix" and issue that someone demands be fixed ASAP, will you be on the forums complaining about how they suck because the servers are offline again?

They have posted the issue will be fixed, that's more than others are getting for some of the bugs in the game, they also said a patch for a few things would be out next week until that time just learn to live with it.

    Edit*
I have also had some of the best PVP because of the bug, due to people not being able to abuse oil or siege spam we have actually had to fight enemies having large hour long skirmishes for resources or epic keep defences where actual fighting happened.

And this exact reason is why, repeatedly, we have said -- if you can't fix the issue easily, disable the skill. Turn it off or increase the stamina cost to an impossible to attain number (like 10,000).

The developers in this game don't know how to do PVP Hotfixes. They just don't. Otherwise, I'd imagine, they would have actually hotfixed ANY of the problems in PvP. Instead of what has become the norm: Problem identified --> Week later we get Jessica Folsom with a response --> 4 weeks later the issue is fixed.

It happened with the Vampire bat swarm exploits, and now it's happening again with the Caltrops exploit.

I mean, can anyone here tell me that these Devs give a *** about pvp? Can you honestly say that?

They haven't even addressed the insane lag that Cyrodiil gets now EVERY SINGLE DAY/NIGHT since Craglorn patch.

I somehow get flashbacks to DAoC ToA. It was quite fast if ESO already hit that´.

I think only the SW:G NGE (or whatever it was called) will ever truly rival DAoC's TOA for 'Biggest Turd Drop On an MMO' in modern gaming history.

When the dev for the game has to publically apologize and offer 'ToA Free' servers....
