Quest choices - not always enough freedom

I like doing quests in ESO, I like it a lot. The quests are engaging, varied and give good reasons for doing what the player is told to do. However, sometimes I would like a few choices more, or a choice at all. ESO is about freedom, and so should the quests be. There should be options to solve quests differently.

For example, right now I did a quest where an Orc historian wanted to know which one of two Orc clans was responsible for raiding a certain Breton leader's estate. However, I got letters from both clans claiming to be responsible, and no idea which one told the truth, if any of the two. Now, the game left me only with the option to give the historian one of the two letters, choosing to which clan the fame goes. I would have preferred a third option: Sticking to the truth as far as possible, giving him both letters.

The "goodbye" option. Everyone lives happily ever after.

    Minor Spoiler

In the rare case where the choice is there there certainly doesn't seem to be much consequence. In some faction you have the option to enslave some fantastic undead military force as far as I know nothing comes of it if you chose not to. In some other faction you must chose destroy or preserve some WOMD the end result is that some chicks get pissed at you for a while than the story ends. I am now going with a totally chaotic evil approach to see if there is even a slight difference.

Except that isn't quest completion. There are several quests where the option "cut the head off of bad guy who is talking to you" should come up. Several times the game presented me with a bad guy presenting me with a "tough choice" that a greatsword in the neck would have adequately solved.

I do agree I'd like more choices. What's wrong with giving three ala Mass Effect? I mean, I know it's hard to know what everyone will say, but for example in one quest I am supposed to be helping an NPC out with finding some lost things. Along the way, I meet a woman that the quest tells me to talk to.

This woman is someone who the male NPC knows. I would have liked an option after listening to the woman to say something in the order of "Nope, don't know the dude" so the guy isn't seen by the woman as he is trying to go through the area.

Instead, the game forces me to say "oh yeah, there he is, derrrrrp" and totally ticked me off (especially since I hated that woman NPC and didn't want the guy NPC to go with her.

Variety is the spice of life.

I just remembered doing a no talking Fallout 1 playtrough. Just shoot everybody in the face. Those were the days. Best character development ever.
