I don't care if they've been around since the dawn of time, mercenaries should not be a thing. I want to fight players, not more NPC's. Especially not invulnerable NPC's. Guards make sense, because they add to the difficulty of taking a keep. This mechanic sucks the life right out of the game's PvP, or, dare I say, transforms it from PvP to PvE. There are also too many campaigns, and giving people the option to switch to whichever campaign is favourable doesn't exactly encourage anyone to fight for their home, and hence we have one or two active campaigns while the rest are empty. Less campaigns, no guest pass.
