Caltrops - 8 Threads, Hundreds of Comments Thousands of Views

I went through the forum and bumped every Caltrops thread , its staggering that with 8 separate threads, huge views and comments there has not been an official update since 'will be fixed after Craglorn'.

This is ruining pvp.

Unlike some threads , such as the 'bolt' ones where there are arguments for and against I have not seen one post that does not want a fix for caltrops.

As its clearly not working as intended what's taking so long to fix it, disable it on a temporary basis, patch it, tell us when you will patch it- but do something, the silence is very annoying...

Please bump this if u don't mind , we may all eventually get a comment ...

They have made a reply. In fact it is the only Zenimax post that I see on this sub forum.
We can confirm there is currently a bug with Caltrops, as some of you have called out. We have a fix for it that will go live shortly after the Craglorn patch.

There it is! Now whether or not is a good reply is up to you.

I, for one think it is vague and lame.

my question is, since they know its bugged and is ruining pvp, why havent they temporarily removed the ability?

    same with mercenaries

It is about as you good as its gonna get until they have the fix ready to roll out.

The real sad part about all this to me is; while this is a big problem in PvP, I could live with it as long as the lag is fixed.

The simple answer is it's because it doesn't effect PvE.

    Yup.

If there was some bug where caltrops prevented boss damage, you can bet your ass they'd be turned off until it was fixed.

@ZOS_JessicaFolsom -- the lack of continued response on this while hotfixing boss encounters in Craglorn speaks very poorly to us pvpers. Please address this inconsistency in priority on fixing very powerful exploits.

Along with caltrops and mercenaries, I'd also point out an issue with oils. A single player - vampire can abuse vampire invisibility to push through a zerg of players, drop and oil pot behind them and burn them fast, then quickly mist again onto another location and oil burn again - then repeat the process of using oils while being invisible and practically invulnerable. If the vampire is an emperor on top of that, he can oil spam kill entire groups without them being able to even scratch him.

And there's also blinker sorc. abuse. A single sorcerer can blink into a group, stun them all and blink away (escape) unharmed without a scratch. One player having fun provoking groups that can't do much about it unless they get a lucky root on him.

I must say I noticed a massive drop in number of players joining PvP these days. Can't remember the last time Auriel (EU) was locked full to be honest.

ZoS is far to slow at doing anything, everyone going to be gone by the time the game gets to a decent state.

What do you expect? To be given the exact date for the fix? They probably don't even know it themselves. Fixing bugs is not as easy as waving a magic wand.

No but recognizing a large problem and putting it on the back burner so they can kick out more PvE content is a huge amateur mistake.

Especially when the issue could be ameliorated by something as simple as either disabling the skill itself temporarily or setting the skill cost to some insanely high number (10000, for instance) to effectively disable it.

Better to lose Caltrops as a choice than continue PVP in its current state.

^This. Even before the caltrops issue made it mainstream there were only 3 populated NA Cyrodiil campaigns. PvPers have always been a small percentage of the overall player base. They are more concerned with getting the PvE working right since that is where the majority of the player base is at the moment.

As a PvPer, this sucks.. but it's always been this way.

You can bet your rear end that if caltrops made you immune to boss damage, there'd be a fix right quick.

Still no update on when Caltrops will be fixed (you know, like an update with an actual date and time).

Still no acknowledgement of the constant lag that is plaguing Cyrodiil since this latest patch.
    Cyrodiil Issues as of 6/3/2014
    - Massive Lag since Craglorn patch.(Still bad lag on "Laggajack" NA and some other campaigns.)
    - Forward Camps and other Siege bugging out frequently
    - Caltrops granting Immunity to Siege Weapon Damage
    - Massive Faction Imbalances in Most Campaigns / Several Dead Campaigns
    - Mercenary Mage Spam (sometimes causing them to go invulnerable)
    - Players exploiting Keeps/Scrolls through DK Chain Pulls to go around defenses

    Yay Zenimax is doing things.

A LOT of the new Cyrodiil lag is from having either disconnects or a sixth group in your raid. If anyone D/Cs, you have to be very vigilant in kicking them from the group and never invite enough to start filling in the sixth group. This won't completely remove all the lag, but will definitely ameliorate a good percentage of it.

Did you not find the post by Jessica (green Name) that said they had a fix already, and that they would not be pushing that fix out until after 1.1.2

Kind of like they have a fix for the oil running up keep walls, that will be in an upcoming patch.

Silly you for thinking they would hotfix such annoyances, silly silly.

So Just sit back and wait like the NB's for the next content patch coming soon to an ESO near you.

I'm never in a group above 4 people in Cyro. Still get crazy amounts of lag. Especially during keep defenses/sieges.

and @Arreyanne‌, yeah I did see the post. But I prefer them to actually know when they're going to put out patches.

Still no update on Caltrops, asked admins directly and still nothing.

Maybe its all the Caltrops causing the lag , think about it , now widely abused bug, graphics intensive, now lag ; ) hmm makes sense ?;)

Anyway have I mentioned when will Caltrops be fixed yet ?

Still awaiting some sort of acknowledgement that anyone has actually read this, cares, know we exist or anything..

I asked in Zone chat what this exploit and bug was, only got a couple answering saying to not answer that question. That they were doing me a favor by not telling me what exploits to watch out for.

Took a while for someone to whisper me the answer while two neckbeards trolled the zone chat, but now I know not to use all Siege equipment on Caltrops laid areas. They only mentioned oil pots in the zone chat.

Anyways, after I was trolled affectively, I have learned that Caltrops is negating any valid PVP action. Disappointing but the significant buffs on Mercenaries is counterbalancing it a bit.

PvP is tacked on in this game. It has potential to be great (if they knew what they were doing) but they don't care. It was a great marketing bullet point.

I made a mention of the lag in a thread about the oil in General Discussion and had a ZOS employee respond minutes later asking me about it.

Maybe we need to post more there since technically this forum is to talk about tactics and stuff.
