Could someone who knows more about what is involved explain why, it feels like we are going back in time 20 years..

This is a general question about this forum and games. My character has spaces in his name.

If real life had a block function i would go out more.

Proud to have spent a year paying to BETA test ESO for consoles.

Why forum names can't have spaces? Did I get that right OP?

It's probably because if there are spaces you can't use @forumname to properly direct comments at someone. Of course, I've noticed that it doesn't work for people with - in their names either (like me).

It's probably due to how web-based programs parse a space.

Ever see that %20 in the URL of your web-browser? That is how most web-based applications interpret a single space due to how URL-Encoding works in web-based programming.

The first sentence is the question, the second sentence is clarification on what, as the game has no problem.

That would make sense, i would have thought someone would have done something about it.
