More money from selling or deconstructing?

So I'm trying to figure this out. This question is about green gear and above, I always sell white. So based on the averages of going prices right now would you make more money selling your gear to a merchant, or breaking it down and selling the materials and improvement and trait stones to players?

Someone who knows the exact numbers might know better, but it seems like honing stone (or whatever is appropriate for the tier) is extracted about 50% of the time. You should be able to get around 75 G per honing stone or about 37 G per item if it's a 50% extract rate. Can you get more than that from a vendor?

For blue or higher, I would probably just decon them myself looking for Dwarven Oil, etc or sell them to a player looking to do the same. Vendor isn't even an option for those.

Between vendoring it as trash, or breaking it down to sell the parts - you will make more money breaking it down and selling the parts. You likely would make even more selling the item itself for deconstruction purposes, as you may not even get the upgrade material from deconstructing it yourself - plus some players will pay a slight premium for being able to get the decon xp from it.

This is the correct answer. You're probably going to make as much or more selling to vendors if you don't have any of the decon passives. If you've got all of the decon passives, you're definitely going to be better off deconstructing them.

Its deconstructing, BUT... there is also a certain amount of 'chance' with that.
When you sell you will get a set price, no risk. If you deconstruct that some item you may get a larger amount of materials, maybe even a rarer temper, but that's not definite.
But as one of the other guys said this also depends on your passives !

If you already have a fair amount of gold and decent passives its probably worth a gamble, otherwise I'd say no... just sell them !
