I must admit - as a tank I was suckered into the whole BASH BASH BASH BASH BASH BASH BASH BASH - you get the idea.
I wanted to try playing a Tank as my first toon in ESO because its a great way to learn a game - the dungeons - the strengths weaknesses of mobs. Bash quickly got the better of me and I was soon winning 3v1 in Cyrodiil 4/5 times.
Today playing in Craglorn with 2 guildies ( a DPS and Healer) I had to really think about what I was doing. First thing... Invasion off, Puncturing Strikes on. I am a DK so I added burning embers into the Mix - Cinder storm - Razor armor and green dragon blood ( I have rebuilt from 1295 to 1986 magika Stam Still 1976). For the first time I really felt like I was tanking. I didn't just Bash things to death, I managed my resource, I pulled the mobs of the healer and I let the DPS Loose with AoE. It was Fun!!
We were doing so well that the DPS and (mostly) the healer were running in first and then I had to pull the trash of of them ( the healer is pretty tough
)
but I could with ease - Puncturing strikes Followed by a Quick burning Embers, next target - when my flock is big enough and the dps chases me or is in a 1v1 I hit Razor Armor and Cinder storm and watch the Ulti Build!!!
I did feel it before the patch, but bash was getting boring. I take my hat of and applaud any tank not suckered in by bash before the patch. Irony at its best... my DPS also went up post patch and without bash!!
So thank you ZOS - ESO is about Skill, and the Bash fix will make more tanks play with Skill
