Summon Shade = Waste of Skillpoint

Just unlocked this today and its effects are.... well..

single attacks from it at VR1 do less than 20 damage to lvl 50 mobs....

it has no hate generation at all. mobs flat out ignore if it i am not 100% stealthed. even with shadow cloak they just continue to ignore it if they have made me their target even once (which they do the moment i am no longer stealthed)

the "damage reduction" is completely negligible if it is even having any effect, the listed amount alone would not be worth it.

all its doing in combat atm is WASTING MAGICKA.

Dont bother with this skill, if it was ever useful, it sure as hell isnt anymore.
I play every class in every situation. I love them all.

It used to be good because you could send in a shade attack one of the pack it wasn't on and come back out and go back in the sneak without the others attacking you. That doesn't seem to work anymore so I would have to say it seems like a waste of a point. 15% damage reduction but that is about it.

Might be good on a ranged bar as a dungeon DPS and help the tank with a little damage reduction? I found most ranged dungeon bars you don't really even use more than a couple skills this could just be an extra but that is about the only use I see for it.

So now all pets in the game suck, instead of just the Sorc pets.

Sorc pets have horrible mechanics and pathing, but at least they can hold some agro some of the time. That is a lot more than shades.

Not true. You can summon a shade in PvP and the Sorc or Dk will spend a second or two laughing at you before you get pummeled. If he's in a really jovial mood these seconds may provide you enough time to run away.

They use to be really useful. With the morph that gives you two shades, they could literally lock a trio down while you could focus on one at a time.

But ZOS inadvertently broke them in the latest patch... so now they no longer draw aggro... sigh...

I have been able to solo world bosses and 4 man Group Dungoen bosses by relying entirely on the clanfear. Its actually quite easy to keep hate on them once you get used to it and it becomes to where you can solo mobs in such a way that baffles players who have never played at that tactic before.

Long fights to be sure, but its rather satisfying to beat a mob that can give groups of players trouble entirely on your own.

the clanfear does up to 100 damage easily and the twilight usually does 150+ or so

The Clanfear also has almost 3k hp by Vr1. with the twilight usually barly hitting around 1k. on average the twilight will generate more hate through damage and if in melee range will usually take the attention off the clanfear. if the clanfear is alone in melee range with the twilight a good distance away, it can usually hold the hate itself and tank.

you can cast healing staff spells on your pets too, in fact the only Hstaff spell that doesnt seem to target your pet is Ward. so with the storm antro in reserve you can act as a party of 3 with a tank, DPS and healer and 3 man enemys without actually being part of a group.

finally, even if the clanfear dies, its a instant cast to send back out for the full near 3k hp, and it can usually get the attention back in one or 2 hits. far less time than it takes for even the strongest enemy to get to you and actually deal a good hit... you can usually just block and back step and you will likey not take enough damage to even have to bother healing yourself^^

the shades on the other hand, do almost no damage, generate no hate... and while they dont take damage at all, because of the lack of before mentioned hate, limited duration and need to sink MP to recast, basically amount to bug bites coming from a source the mobs dont care about anyways.

if they at least could keep hate, you could use them to take on groups simply by staying in stealth and keeping the shade out, eventually they would kill the mobs tho at less than 20 damage per hit, it would take forever...

It's very important that everyone keep using pets in PvP.

It affords me hours of entertainment. :D

If you're not a DK expect nerfs. DKs get buffs and free cookies, obviously... This game has seriously become Dragonknights Online...

I love this game but am quickly starting to completely lose faith in ZOS... Having flashbacks of SWTOR is not good.

I tried out the archer morph of it that you teleport to and I found it pretty lackluster also. I could maybe see a use for it to avoid an AoE by teleporting out of it quickly but you can only teleport 1 time during the duration of the shade. I would rather see it swap positions with you so you could teleport back and forth using it. Then it might have a use for mobility. I would also like to see it castable without a target so again it could be used for mobility but in their current form they are pretty terrible except for the debuff it applies. I mean if the only real use is the debuff might as well just make it a normal spell instead of a strange summon.

I would love to see them buffed to A) Look like you, so it confuses people in PvP. b) Either do damage so it can be used as a DPS spell or Taunt so it can be used as a Tank spell. C) Be able to cast it without a target or have a much much longer range like Mark does or more.

Wow u can use CAPS and also found the bold button, what was your point again?

Shades are one of the only none ultimate ability's, that can reduce any veteran boss and trials boss damage. Shades also stack with any other form of reduction.

While they are useless as "Pets" simply think of this skill as a strong, cheap damage debuff.

15% damage debuff is huge. People just need to wrap their minds around the fact the debuff looks like a guy attacking with a sword.

correct think about it this way:

Shades = "U and your group/raid gain 2000 armor and spell resistance for 20 seconds".
