Why do a content patch before fixing your game?

abrizsb14_ESO1
Why in the hell did Zenimax do a content patch when the core game is still majorly broken?

-Crashing
-Freezing
-Not being able to attack, having to /reloadui
-Large amount of quests broken
-Achievements broken
-Big balance issues with classes

The list goes on, and on. Never ever again release a content patch until you fix the core of the game please. This was a huge mistake, and the games even more broken then it was before this patch.

I'm actually okay with a content patch as long as they don't break things more, which... Doesn't seem like they quite managed.

The people working on new content aren't the same team as the ones doing bug-fixes, but it sure seems like the teams could use some re-balancing.

I know this, but the problem is, new content = new bugs. The games broken enough without new broken content. So wait till the core of the game is fixed.

This "Why do a content patch before fixing your game?" , is not the question.

The real question is , why add a content patch that break even more the game?

    The VR10s were getting restless.

Another reason might be that Wildstar releases in less than two weeks. Also, it is rumored that beta for WoW's new expansion will be opening up soon. Depending on Blizzard's nda, gamer focus could shift to ws and WoW-WoD beta videos on Youtube with Craglorn videos competing.

I was VR10 2 weeks into the game, an didn't want this patch till they fixed the CORE of the game.

Read the whole patch notes and V10 players need end game.

Because, the tiny portion of players that exploited to VR10 in one day is DEMANDING new content at max level, or (gasp!) they'll quit.

Never mind that catering to game-hopping content locusts is a failing strategy, since nothing the devs do will ever appease them.

The people working on new content might not be fixing bugs but Zenimax sure as hell could lay off a couple of the ones working on new content and spend that money on some programmers to fix content. Money is interchangeable between tasks.

I wouldn't lay them off, per se - "agile" is everything in software development and that sometimes means "moving people from one team to augment another that needs some extra cycles". It happens all the time.

Let's just face facts! These guys couldn't find their azz with both hands. It's been proven over the last 2 months and it's not going to change anytime soon.

I don't have any of the problems you mention. The balance issues are a non issue for anyone who doesn't PvP.

Frankly, maybe instead of bitching, you step back and walk in their shoes for a day. I think you'd be surprised. I work in software. I know what these guys are going through. If you are impatient, Wildstar will be out shortly.

Sorry, but you are wrong. I know people who work in software development also. They agree that they shouldn't be releasing content until the CORE of the game isn't as buggy as this is. And these people in know work in one of the largest gaming companies.

Because in the real world companies can work on multiple things at the same time. Zenimax isn't a guy in his mom's basement, it's a corporate entity with hundreds of employees. Get a clue.

Look kid, just because they can work on multiple things, doesn't mean it should be put into the game until the core is functioning properly. So please, take your own advice, and get a clue.

    Have a great day.

true Zenimax is a corporate entity with hundreds of employees.
    that is not the point.
Why add more broken stuff on top of existing broken stuff that already has overwhelmed sismans and devs who can't seem to make what they have work properly.
especially when the clients are ready to mutiny and leave in droves
I would think pulling people off development pushing content patches back and fixing the game would take priority.
but then thats probably why i don't have a game design company.
