Patch notes say:

Clothier
Fixed an issue with multiple leather types dropping from the same monsters in Veteran content.
It is now possible to craft level 44 leather chest pieces.

It's lucky they tied cloth and leather working together really, yesterday I did a test just to compare mat gathering for each of the crafts.

I went to 10 nodes of each of Oak, Flax, High Iron, and killed 10 mobs that drop hide. My results were;

Oak = 33, Flax = 34, High Iron = 33, Hide = 3

I killed another 10 mobs because I know the results can very widely.

Hide = 5

I killed another 10 mobs because I know the results can very widely.

Hide = 6

I killed another 10 mobs because I know the results can very widely.

Hide = 4

Basically I killed 40 mobs and got 18 pieces of hide. I thought to myself 'I will see how many mobs I need to kill to reach the equivalent of getting 10 nodes in other crafts'.

I needed to kill 74 mobs to get 34 hide. It took me an hour to do this. So basically, to keep crafting medium gear for every 2 levels I would need to farm for around 2 hours. by which time I would probably have almost done a level given the amount of mobs needed to kill in order to craft said gear.

It takes me 10 minutes to find 10 nodes of any other craft, but almost an hour to get the same amount of hides as other crafts.

It needs to change!

Zeni, please can I get a response that you are looking into this as a valid problem with crafting medium armour. If leather working was separate from clothing, it would take longer to level than enchanting.

    I had no issue getting leather while leveling, but it seems a little silly to tie this to a VR fix that doesn't actually affect drop rates.

    What do you mean 'silly to tie this to a VR fix that doesn't actually affect drop rates'?

    What I copied was the entire patch notes for clothier, my point being is that there is no mention of increased drop rates for hide.

    If you have such a statement as 'you had no issue' would you care to elaborate on your view.

    Making a statement is neither helpful or needed.

    Bumping this, however giving the amount of QQ threads since patch day, this is probably futile.

    I get 60% of my leather by deconning items. Not having enough leather hasn't been an issue for me...Unless something drastically changes at the veteran levels. Only 33 at the moment. So far, I haven't had any supply issues.

    Same boat as PlagueSD. I tend to get a lot of my medium armour material from deconstructing.

    I agree though that there seems to be more difficulty when I first go into a new zone to get medium armour materials compared to the other two. I usually have a good supply half way through clearing a zone. Before that it is hard to get the materials together to make a full set of armour in medium so I usually do a mix and match with heavy and light pieces as well.
