Can you do anything other then heal on Temps?

I play a Vr7 Temp. The higher VR i get the less and less i feel that DPS Temp is a thing. EVERY Temp i know at Vr10+ heals. It seem as though this class is kinda a one trick pony. I have a 20k reward out for anyone who can put up a DPS build that can handle more then 1-2 mobs at a time. I hate to seem like i am crying, but it just seems like Temps are weak in everything but heals. I feel pressured into going heals at this point in fear i wont be able to find groups at VR10+.

The way I see it Templar is supposed to be more a dps hybrid than pure dps.

Though it seems a nice class if you want to go spell sword or battle mage motif.

    Ok, from ESO

TEMPLAR - These traveling knight call upon the powers of the light and the burning sun to deal MASSIVE DAMAGE to their enemies while restoring health, magicka, and stamina to thier allies.

This is in no way close to what a Templar is. It should say Templar - Healer of ESO don't play unless you want to heal a little better then everyone.

I am NB and 1v1 there some crazy hard templars to beat, i think some of those good templars are harder than DKs and probably the best straight up 1v1 fighter

Well up until this patch, you could be a fairly decent DPS with a destro staff for trash and resto for single target using the mages guild ability. Not the greatest but still more than good enough with the strong option of bringing some great support and doing a bit less damage. With the new patch we'll have to wait and see i guess as Destro staff was nerfed and we have little means of decent AOE.

You can be a decent tank, i would even say a good one, i play a healer and had some great templar tanks, my guess is that it's a bit more involved than the other class due to the lack of CC other than volcanic runes.

And the best healer without a doubt, burst healing is always king and we have the best burst heal skill along with some great sustained healing skills all of that on top of the regular resto staff.

When i picked the Temp i never wanted to heal. I know its kinda my own fault. But i never thought i would be pushed into healing. It just upsets me to be more or less forced into playing a spec in a game that said you can do anything and be good at it.

I do think Templars should have been able to morph at least one of their abilities for the purpose of burst self healing and mitigation. In that regard, I've still not found something that compares to Dragon Blood. Dragon Knights also just have a lot more built in for tanking in general. I personally went with the pbaoe solar barrage ability. Really wishing that power gave the snare, simply because it would help with crowd control, presumably which is part of our purpose as a tank. Don't get me wrong I love healing and healers, but I too am a Templar who built to tank. I do however intend to try to squeeze the most tanking out of it as I can, but there are some things about the class that seem a little off when you stack items up to the Dragon Knight.

Also, am I the only person who thinks that Templars should innately get bonus damage versus vampires above and beyond just the Fire element? It seems to me that raw SOLAR fire has to be the absolute antithesis of what a Vampire or Daedra is about. It is an Aedric skill line after all.

All this being said, I find it important to make all the classes balanced to one another. I'm a big fan of balance in games, so if there's something glaringly wrong with what I'd be happy to know it.

I'm almost VR3 and its become quite clear to me that healing is the templar's strongest suit.

In early stages of Craglorn, my guess is that templars will pretty much be pigeonholed into healing in any serious group.

I regularly group with a melee DPS orientated Templar who does extremely well. I dont know his exact setup but he uses 2h sword (I'm pretty sure he uses cleave and executioner with momentum activated) combined with biting jabs to put out large amounts of melee damage by alternating his resource pools interspersed with a few utility spells. He also uses Flawless dawn breaker for the 10% passive damage. When he compares his DPS with NB and Sorcerers hes quite often coming out higher on boss fights. If I could actually convince him to use Power of the Light instead of making me do it I'm sure this DPS would be even better.

Personally speaking as a healing orientated Templar the way I dealt with the VR level mobs was to spec out heavy armour, a melee line (I went dual wield) and to go Vampire. You then use binding javelin to CC a little (Eclipse is a good alternative on magicka users), a good all round melee attack style, biting jabs and the vampire life drain/stun and AoE life drain ultimate (2 skills that help a huge amount when soloing with inadequate CC). In most instances this let me easily kill packs of 2 and then use the ultimate to kill packs of 3 (no ultimate was a bit of a struggle but perfectly doable).

I've also heard of people using bow skills combined with vampire's bane and javelin to a decent effect although I found bow pretty bad when I tried it but I didn't stick with it for that long to be fair.

Templars can tank. and for DPS i would try destro staff. im currently raising my destro up for impulse even with the new patch so i can charge a couple of mobs at once using explosive charge > followed up by impulse with -health % Morph > followed by Solar barrage spam of course not tested yet
