i dont know if iam the first to say this but the new hireling system is crap, this new system if only good of the bots and not the players of ESO

so short dont fix what is not broken, give us the old system back

Thank You

    Huh.

I got three legendary tempers today on one character.

    Not sure how that's "crap".

Oh wait, you were one of those that abused the system by getting all of your alts' boxes on your main with the crafting weren't you?
  • stevenpotter321b14_ESO
I dont mind the changes, miss the way the old system would display though, made it easier to see what was purple/gold/blue etc. Now I have to mouse over items with similar appearances to see what quality they are.

I ended up setting up my alts to do this last week (I randomly read about it online), and have only collected a handful of times, but every time I did I felt like I was cheating someone, somewhere. Don't get me wrong, I still did it and would continue to do it because so far that is my only source of legendary upgrading mats and I'm VR2. Where are you supposed to find these? Or are you really forced to buy them from merchants/other players?
Saying that, I'm not pissed they changed the system. It's how it should have been implemented from the beginning. I am pissed they didn't change the timing, though. It says you get mail every 24 hours, but in no way is that true. You get mail the next time you login 24 hours after you got your last mail. How is that getting mail every 24 hours, like the ability states?

Yeah I don't like the way the timer works.

You can also get them (rarely) from refining materials. I get a lot of the epic tempers that way, but very rarely I've gotten a legendary one.

They're supposed to be rare. They didn't want everyone constantly running around in full legendary suits.

Only bonus to Craglorn going live is that folks will have to make full suits of legendary gear again.

Get those duped ones out of the system.

I know it is a quibble but since they changed the system I would kind of like the skill points refunded that I put into hirelings. I know it is only 3 points per character, but it is now three or four points wasted on each of my non crafter alts. The true mules it doesn't matter but I am actively leveling several other characters besides my main crafter and they can always use more skills points.

I have 3 hirelings in clothing. I get less than 2 nodes worth of cloth (below my crafting level) now? I want my points back!!! I wear leather and don't even USE cloth!!! This is ridiculous!

That doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Your mules will now be the ones with the wasted skill points since they're lower level, whereas your higher level toons are reaping the benefit. If anything, you want to keep the hireling skills with your highest level chars.

the hireling was like one of the only way for me to get good tempers, without buying it from bots, all this update does is making it more profitable for the botters not the real players

You used to be able to open an alts hireling mail with a main character, if that character was highly skilled in a profession then the materials gained were/could have been of higher level than intended.
Now the level of materials directly equates to the alt/hireling they were intended for.
( a lot of people were using6/7 alts but opening all their hireling mail with the main in order to farm better materials)(technically an exploit that has now been stopped)

They changed it so you get materials and quality based on the crafting skill of the character who have the skill not the one who received the mail.

Say you have 5 level 5 bank alts where you have leveled taken the hireling perk.
You also have an main who is level 50 in the crafting skill, Previously he receives the 6 mails and get VR10 class materials and plenty of good tempers.

Now he get low level stuff from the 5 low level alts. and one mail with good stuff.
As normal exploiters scream then the exploit is removed.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Because they now can't cheat. Most likely the same idiots that exploited their way to VR10 in a matter of days or those duping materials.

I have a few alts I use for this reason. Do you mean that say, my clothier alt has a level of 5, he will always receive low level crafting items, no matter what his clothier skill is? Or is it the other way around?

I think its more like the wood / ore types. Why send a lv1 crafter lv6 materials. The other stuff (tempers, resins etc) you still have a chance of getting purples and golds, same as before.

Because cheaters are not viable human beings if they can't cheat. You see they actually hate themselves because of parent, grade school, etc issues and...well this is a long story.

Ah, alright, thanks for clearing it up, though the main reason I had crafting alts is so I could get more mats. 5 ore per day is pretty slow. :(

First of all, thanks for the info, and I find this patch good, as it wasn't intended to do so.

But the question is where to get your materials in this game.
    - Bots farm the landscape in many areas empty of good stuff.
    - Bosses drop often not really good stuff
    - all is very expensive

I made a twink cause i am not happy with my templar and want to try with a new toon how some changes feel before I respec. And I was shocked how different it is to play in Daggerfall now. Really not much to find. My lvl 32 and 46 have it better (though I still have to go grinding to earn money and materials, not cause I really want it). But beginners have a really hard time. It feels not rewarding to strafe the landscape in beginner areas anymore...

It's a bit off-topic, but could the devs not only do possibilities away, could they somehow implement more possibilities for players to find something useful and rewarding?

Got most of my legendary materials from refining materials after I farmed them, I suggest you do the same thing^^ Oh wait, you actually still get the raw materials so you still get legendary materials, and yes, you even get them from iron and whatever^^
