it will always be done when someone wants to play when you sleep others are awake…. the times are selected to be at the lowest server population times for the server.

Did they move the server status updates somewhere? Where do we find this info now?

Nobody knows cuz they dont give the information out as they should. At Least a rough estimate would be awesome,

No. As stated in previous threads, the only thing an estimate does is create forum drama.

Should really have a downtime thread IMO

If you only had something else to do with your time, the wait wouldn't be so bad.

Not really... it is more that we pay subscription fees, and should at least be given the courtesy of an ETA. I find it sad that rule 1 in the IT profession is 99.9% yearly uptime. Yet with MMOs, uptime is whatever, and full price is charged. Hell, I've seen NetWare servers up for over 20 years straight. With all the virtual and clustering technology available today, it is possible to maintain a 100% uptime... short of a global catastrophe of course.

I've seen people who need a fix more than some people here...but not for a while and not when doing anything that I can mention without getting banned.

Sure, it's possible. And it's insanely costly when your service isn't a necessity (like e-mail, etc.). Even massive commercial services (like Salesforce, for example) have weekly downtime. I don't know why you think gaming companies would feel the need to outdo that.

Cool. How would you like to be paying them double the money so they can have a whole bank of back-up servers available, just to make sure that you don't have to go even an hour without playing?

I like my subscription prices to be somewhat reasonable.

In fact, I can tell you from first hand experience that it is a fireable offence (no warnings) to cause downtime at massive e-commerce companies, like eBay, or Amazon, or Paypal. Its pretty *** to see someone lose their job over something that isn't their fault. Not to mention all the government, banking, legal, DoD, airport, etc. systems that require 100% up time. It isn't anything new.

... and that is exactly why I've never used salesforce. I wouldn't say insanely costly. It is roughly double the price to run a backup data center. Even then, I'd gladly pay double the price for no downtime. $30/mo. for entertainment is still really cheap.

    P.S. Launcher is patching.

Were lucky in this day and age to still have subs at 15 dollars. The first sub i paid 15 for was swg. that was YEARS ago, and it still hasn't changed. With inflation and the likes, people need to count their blessings, as were lucky were not paying 25 per sub.
