Buying Food and Drink

grahamz1b14_ESO
This really isn't about Provisioning itself, but just a general inquiry about selling food. One of my characters specializes in Provisioning, and currently can craft green or blue quality foods up to level 35. However, I don't see anyone in any of my guilds actually selling food and drink and (as far as I can tell) no one actually buys food or drink. On the good side, being the only (apparent) provisioner selling food means no competition. But of course, that's meaningless if no one actually buys food. Early on, I noticed people even trying to sell non-crafted foodstuffs in the guild store, but nowadays I don't see any foods at all.

So is it just me and my guilds, or do people just not buy (and sell) food?

BTW, when I asked about it in a couple of my guilds, one person thought I wanted to buy food, and offered to give me some. Another told me that he never remembers to eat food so he wouldn't buy any.

Food doesn't necessarily sell much in PvE (from my experience), but it is used a LOT in PvP context, and is bought consistently.

At the moment due to the diminishing loot it is a little harder to get a hold of the ingredients.

Having food can be the difference between living and wiping.

I sell Vet 5 food and do have quite a few customers.

Provisioning/Food/Drinks is good for yourself in PvE. I am a level 50 Provisioner on my main and except for one time, I haven't sold any of the higher level food to anyone.

I can sell materials for creating food all day long, but the food itself, no.

Then again, I am in Crafting Guilds.

If you really want to sell food items, find a dedicated PvP guild to join as a provisioner. If you are able to create and provide a variety of leveled food/drinks for sale for reasonable prices in appropriate stacks (10, 20, per stack), my guess would be that those would sell pretty well since dedicated PvP'ers would rather be playing than farming mats for food.

Just be prepared to spend money on the purple/high-end recipes so that you can craft those items for the guild members.

So you only are able to sell Vet 5 food and drink and nothing lower than that? You didn't try to sell food prior to getting that high level?

Since I can make a lot of good food, I use it all the time, and although I agree that it's not 'absolutely necessary' for pve, it does make the difference for me for some boss fights and dungeons and gives me more leeway for those 'oops' moments (I'm actually an AARP member, so I may have more oops moments than you younger folk lol). Hell, it helps if you simply are prone to fall off of bridges or walk off of cliffs (some of us have been known to do that at times -- my vision is faulty and hand-eye coordination nearly non-existent, so yes, having food can even make a difference for really stupid reasons).

I have a contact on my list who sells VR1 and VR5 blues in stacks of 100. My friend and I have both purchased from him/her and intend to do so in the future. I've added them to my friends list to continue to do business. If you're running around with that hour long buff in PVP you're mad and I usually have it on everywhere - especially in dungeons.

Try advertising in zonechat a little. Don't spam too much but just the odd advertisement and you'll soon build up a customer base I imagine.

I sell food every day in two different guild stores. I have also sold it in bulk in zone chat to those who were requesting it. I don't advertise. Most buyers start picking it up in the lvl 35+ range (the range you have not reached yet). PVE is not hard enough to require it earlier than that and most people are still toying with trying to do every craft at once at that point. By lvl 35-40 some people have specialized or decided provisioning was not for them.

If you're not selling foods, you haven't found the appropriate market for them. Crafting guilds will not buy your foods. You need a guild that either has a more varied spread or you need a pure PVP or high level PVE guild. No one is interested in green food so don't waste your time on that.
