How often should the level cap be increased?

There is no way to tell how often they will increase level caps or how many levels they will add with each increase. The first was ten levels. The second appears to be two levels. Some say the next will be three levels. Let's go by increments of ten.

Ten levels every six months feels about right to me. I don't like to feel rushed when I'm gaming. I get that feeling enough in life. Lol. I'd still be happy with content expansions and bug fixes in the meatime.

    I voted 'often as possible'
However I only chose that option as its there was no option for 'whenever content dictates'

    Every 6 months is ludicrous!

Worthwhile content can't be created that quickly and after a couple of years or so new players will be entirely unable to 'catch up' without some sort of artificial help, such as 'rested XP', which will cleary cause outrage in many of those who think being at level cap is something you need to 'work at'.

There's no NEED to raise the cap at all, FFXI for years had a cap of 75 yet character progression continued by other means.

To me, constant raising the level cap indicates they're fresh out of other ideas and was a huge factor in my not wanting to play WoW anymore. 1-60 was bad enough, 60-70 was worse, and after 70 I just didn't care anymore.

It look like ESO veteran levels work more like gear levels than normal levels.
Main effect of higher veteran levels is that you can wear better gear and get the soft caps raised.

In short we will not get better gear without higher VR levels.
Sideways expansion will be new sets and new skill lines.

Main problem is lack of ways to level from VR1 to VR10 outside of quests and grinding.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Because this is a "skill based game", there really is no need to raise the level.

They can add more places to explore and add new skill lines to the game. No need to have us keep leveling.

I hope one day a MMO will learn that we really do not need to level. There are other things they can do to make us feel great about our characters.

There was no option to put "when Zenimax believes its time for one, because it goes well with their plan of the game".

We know get a raid zone. A new zone thats VERY hard. A slight raise in VETERAN levels (not level 51). Seams fine to me.

So far I am very happy with how Zenimax shown how they take care of the game, how they work with it, LISTEN to their player base and they have a long term plan.

Even if some people here think I am full of ...junk...I speak from experience playing everquest from start to the highpoint. Everquest did almost a perfect job in expanding levels, AA, new zones, new raids, new content when it was time too.

Zenimax seams to have learned a thing or two from the EQ team :-)

I just sit back, enjoy the ride, play the game and annoy @Nox_Aeterna

Raise lvl cap by 5 or 10 every 9 mo, with a major content dump. 3 and 6 mo, perhaps VR lvl increase with small content additions.

    10 levels per 6 months.
That's an increase of basically 1.6 lvl per month.
Considered they said they plan on releasing "fresh content" every 4-6 weeks, I think it's manageable.

To me MMORPGs start to lose their appeal once the level cap is reached and players get bogged down into a sort of routine where you continuously do the same content over and over for minor improvements.

For this reason the faster more content and levels are introduced the better in my opinion. I like having something new on the horizon to look forward to.

    Every Six Months
I think every 6 months is reasonable. Only for the simple fact that once some players hit the lvl cap it might get boring for them. New gear and possibly a new area every 6 months is do-able and it will keep people active and give us something to look forward to. I also think that an increase of only maybe 3 levels is sufficient. I don't think an additional 10 lvls is good unless the amount of xp required to reach the next level is very high.

Someone mentioned that increasing the lvl cap hurts new players. I really don't see how it could hurt them. It is the same to a new player coming in at lvl 1 and working towards VR10 as it would be working towards say VR15.

For now because the game is so new anyway an increase to the lvl cap wouldn't be a good decision. They need to wait at least a year before the first jump.

Finally I think the soft cap should be removed. I think the entire attributes category needs to be revamped.

I'd say every 3 months with around 2 levels each update, this will keep the economy moving along in a good pace.

Every 9 months to a year is what I prefer. The level cap should only increase when official expansions are released, when the game is ready to move on to the next "tier."
