I don't understand Vampires.

I understand this is a fix so that vampires aren't OP as heck, however it's lore breaking, and it annoys me.

I'll try and keep this spoiler free, in the quest in the first bit, the guys says that the Vampire is mending its wounds quickly, that would mean Vampires should have an insanely high Health Regen (unless in the sun.) Not only is this the main thing is most Vampires movies/games/books but it appears so in ESO!

Now that -75% is a lore breaker; an a massive one at that. Again I can understand if it's in sunlight, but at night health regain should be faster.

I know it's best to keep vamp level low, but stage 4 looks the best.

I kinda agree. It seems they decided to add vampires, not for lore reasons, but as a hand-out for gameplay purposes.

Insane damage resistance and regen. Increased movement and attack speed. Weakness to sunlight (in Elder Scrolls, sunlight doesn't always spell instant death, but generally weaker abilities).

So why did they make vampires more focused on their magicka-based attacks?

    - Replace poof-be-gone with a movement and attack speed buff.
    - Replace life sucking stun (which mysteriously doesn't count as feeding) with a hypnosis/thrall stun and disorient.
    - Lower damage output on bats, give it a slight disorient.

With each stage of vampirism, strength and speed increases, damage resistance to stamina-based attacks increases, weakness to fire increases, and health regen decreases if in sun.

In short, replace the Dawnguard vamp's with the lore-based vamps of all the other games.
Ruze Aulus. Mayor of Dhalmora. Archer, hunter, assassin. Nightblade.
Gral. Mountain Terror. Barbarian, marauder, murderer. Nightblade.
Na'Djin. Knight-Blade. Knight, vanguard, defender. Nightblade.

    XBOX NA
Ruze is a veteran of the PC Beta, lived through the year one drought, survived the buy-to-play conversion, and has stepped foot in the hells known as Craglorn. He mained a nightlbade when nightblades weren't good, and has never worn a robe. He converted from PC during the console betas, and hasn't regretted it a moment since.

He'd rank ESO:TU (in it's current state) a 4.8 out of 5, loving the game almost entirely.

This is an multiplayer game. I should be able to log in, join a dungeon, join a battleground, queue for a dolmen or world boss or delve, teleport in, play for 20 minutes, and not worry about getting kicked, failing to join, having perfect voice coms, or being unable to complete content because someone's lagging behind. Group Finder and matchmaking is broken. Take a note from Destiny and build a system that allows from drop-in/drop-out functionality and quick play.

More importantly, what I don't understand is this.

What do you feed your mom? And how does that influence your experience in riding her?
People keep telling me they're gonna buy me an ale. They never do.

There are only two things I can't stand in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's culture. And the Elves.

Hehe yeah I know, I couldn't resist (simple things for simple minds  )

Honestly, I agree with you about the breaking lore thing. What do you reckon would be a good way to adapt Vampire stats to make it align more closely to lore and be practical from a character point of view? You've actually got me thinking about it now...

They added vampires so they can announce: it's a real tes, of course you can be a vampire!

The implementation lore wise is bogus, and even an MMO should be able to do it better.

well in all fairness most of the lore / literature agrees that the rapid regen and other powers hang together with having a high.. reservoir if you will of blood.

if vampires are low on blood in most lit / lore they don't regenerate / degenerate / dry up / whatever

now look at how it woks in eso; if you use drain essence (eg drink blood) you regenerate health and stamina at a tremendous rate and you can morph the ability to get ultimate aswel..
  • Shamusangus_24
im also pretty sure other vampires dont need to spam the key for drain essence 100 times before it works!

I can see the issue they had with vampires, because it'd be hard to balance/keep it fun, however they used a design based on single player for an MMO, which doesn't work anyway! -- however I'm not sure if it's plausible.

The more you feed, the more powerful you are, you can feed only at night, and you must be sneaking! (Feeding from players counts as two feedings, NPC's as one.) -- <- may not exactly work as people would powerlevel it with friends/buy feedings.. however you cannot feed from the same player twice within a week.

I'm not leveling this wise, as I cannot be bothered to work it all out and balance it, it's a general suggestion.

*In the sun, health regain is reduced by 85% -- Going indoors or into shade will stop this.

*You take 30% increased damage from bows (light and heavy attacks only) -- no crossbows; unless we include the ability from the Fighter's Guild.

*You take 35% increased from fire based spells/abilities -- this is increased to 50% if you're in the sun.

*Some vampire NPC's notice you as a brother/sister and will not attack you unless provoked. (I feel as if this could be a purchasable ability, it'd be great immersion.)

*If defeated in combat, once a day you can resurrect for free. (again, would be a good purchasable ability!)

*You move 25% faster during the night

    Feeding system.
You can feed once every 4 real life hours, feedings cannot be used on the same NPC/Player in a week. Every x amount of feedings will unlock a new passive ability! -- When you feed you'll have the option to increase power, or lower your vampire level, you cannot choose both!

    -

May be a useless idea, however it was fun to think up and I may put more taught into it later and balance it a little, but you get the point.

I see your point in this though, vampires can regain amazing amounts of HP with the ability, I'm sure this counters the passive.

Do you play vampire? Because it's actually better to be in stage 4 unless you're not running any vamp skills. The decrease in cost of spells (Especially the vamp ultimate) is very good. The minus health regen isn't even that big of a deal unless your build is designed around health regen.

With that said, I do, however, agree that our health regen should actually increase at night.

I wish vampires in this game took sun damage during daytime hours like they did in Oblivion and Morrowind.

Err, Vampires in ESO have never been like the movie/book vampires, they have always had their own flavour. As for the high regeneration, yes they do have that, not as high as in this game (for previous tes games anyway) but still very high.

    I am with you.
For me the Vampires can be nerfed, by not getting much benefits (low numbers) out of it, but I really like if the world is coherent, e.g. if it is a Vampire - it should drink blood, get hurt by sun, and heal fast in night ;-)
An now it is like that: Vampire drinks blood (or rather retrieves from a distance), is not getting any damage from sun, and it has much worse health regen than a human - independently if it is day or night.
