More than a patch?

Started ESO and am getting a 2.5 GB download and the launcher says it is only 21% of what is to be downloaded, which would indicated a total download over 10GB!!

Pretty big for just a patch isn't it?

The total patch size will be approximately 5.9GB.

OK, I wonder why it said the first download of 2.5GB was only 21% even when it was almost finished.

Whoopsie~~ I just looked again and it says it is working on a download over 6.6GB left on the current download!! And it says 32%.

Wow, I wonder what is happening?

Now it is making some smaller downloads ... seems to be a series of small ones and the counter is up over 50%.

But I have definitely downloaded over 10GB so far and it's still coming.

And now it says it is downloading another 4GB file.

Either they didn't give Gina the correct info or the program can't count for beans.
It does seem to be going awfully fast to be downloading that many gigabytes.

Check and make sure it's not saying verifying instead of downloading during part of the process.

Possible, that I didn't notice it but right now it says ' downloading 2610MB remaining 72% along that line.

Are you possibly loading PTS rather than the NA client ... some people have said that they've had an unexpected PTS download.

Dunno what PTS is. I was looking at the ESO launcher and I have no idea why it would show anything OTHER than ESO.

All I know is it kept showing that it was downloading a multi-gigabyte file and the progress bar kept growing and the percentage finished kept increasing.

At first i thought it might be re-downloading because the hash didn't match due to corrupted download ... but if that was the case the progress percentage wouldn't increase after each download.

PTS (public test server). There is a checkbox in the launcher options which will allow you to access it (but it'll download a full game client).

Same mess they made on the last big patch They cannot get the patch working and just make you DL the whole game again. I realy hope they fixed the having to DL the game 2x problem fixed at least this time

Hmmm, if the patcher is messing about it may be a good idea to run the repair tool once patching is complete.

It is currently crashing for me and any repair attempts to force me to download 26gb, I am not hanging around for that. I can't find the code but it is error 11

It's simple. You are misunderstanding the meaning of the number. It means percentage of patch/update complete, which includes both download and install, both of which are in multiple segments. The % complete also has nothing to do with the time it takes; it just refers to how much of the "job" is done.
