To start, the tooltip for each pet (matriarch, familiar, and atronach) lists they deal Shock damage. This damage should work with the champion passive Elemental Expert, but it does not. The pet critical damage also did not increase when more points were placed into the critical boost Elfborn.

My matriarch did roughly 3050 damage with 100 points into Elemental Expert, and 3090 damage with zero points in Elemental Expert (but I had more max magicka because I had to toggle magelight to compensate for the magicka pool loss for not slotting 100 points).

Short story, pets are not buffed by any champion point passives. And I also believe the tooltip where it says "and deals x% extra damage", is also not being applied

@Fat_Cat45 is totally right! The Elfborn and Elemental Expert champion passives do not work with pets. Also trap beast doesn't affect your pet's critical damage.

The x% extra damage doesn't seem to work for the pets and doesn't seem to be accurate for Overload as well.

Pets also can not be controlled, recalled, or ordered to attack a target during the bubble phase of the Molag Kena fight. They stand still until the phase ends

Really? Stopped using Pets in PvE a really long time ago. But I know that others have complained that the Lightning Aspects generating the shield in the Molag Kena fight cannot be affected with dots. Apparently every dot which is casted directly at an enemy doesn't effect these Lightning Aspects but ground based skills do. Maybe this is the same issue which prevents the pets from attacking?

And except from the increased stats (primarly magicka) you can get from putting points in the championsystem nothing in there effects pets.

*Fixed it for console peasants. This is my biggest beef with pets on console. I have to attack and draw aggro in order for my pets to do their duty! Why is there not a command for attack/recall?

It must have something to do with the boss gaining the "invulnerable" tag. But that wouldn't explain why I also can't order my pets to attack the Lightning Aspects.

But I just want my pets to get buffed properly from champion points, tool tips, and other sources. I pulled 19.5k dps against Maw of the Infernal in vet Banished Cells with my pet build, and I can't even imagine how much higher it would have been if they worked properly

The Volatile Familiar morph also received a Nerf. It now has a cool down when it is cast multiple times in a row. There is roughly a 0.75 second delay every other cast to resummon the Volatile Familiar. This did not exist before the Imperial City patch

I actually have an idea for a Pet build im going to try out later. Now it could flop or do well, i'll find out lol. I can't help but think a Pet build would be able to rock PvE solo.

I feel if we focus less on defense and more on offense we can pull it off. I have a more defensive build in mind as well, but that'll use the pets as more additive spells.

Im thinking my older build that's more of a mix wont work so well. Im hoping by splitting up the build and focusing on one main direction will work.

I just worry the more offensive build will get Horse pwned in PvP, (hopefully new damage reductions can make it PvP viable.)

The thing about pet build is that max magicka increases their damage. And Hardened Ward is directly influenced by max magicka. So short story: all you need is Hardened Ward if you use a pet build. Mine is 29k strength at a 49k magicka total.

You can go offensive and only be using hardened ward as a defensive ability

Pets also do not get any benefit from spell damage.

I equipped 2 piece Molag Kena and triggered Overload. The pet damage did not increase during Overkill. It was 3234 before Overkill was active, and still 3234 after it was triggered.

Summoning them after Overkill also did not increase their damage. And using a spell damage potion and waiting 30 seconds to resummon them also did not increase damage.

So either pet damage is scaled directly off of max magicka, or their stats are bugged and don't interact with active buffs

All good points. They also like to eat every aoe and boss mechanic in the game. You can't recall them to manually avoid it either. Either they program the pet to strafe or reduce aoe damage from boss mechanics basically making the summon like a dot effect.

I believe with the IC patch they added even more AoE resistance to pets. But they really take a lot of damage to die now, it's better than it used to be
