First off, I am a vampire, but before the patch the hardest hitting whips were around 8-9k. After pvping for a few hours last night, I was consistently being hit with 11-13k whips.
I am at work right now so I don't have the pics I took, but I am wondering is this intended? Am I *** and I just never noticed being hit this hard? Or did whip just get a buff and I missed it.
Thanks for your time! Let's keep all discussion civil and unheated.

Lava Whip gets bonus damage from both Thaumaturge and Elemental Expert. I'm not sure if that's intended or a bug, but that might be the reason why it's hitting so hard from some players.
Edit: Nvm, the *bonus damage* from Thaumaturge in my testing was probably just from increased Max Magicka. It increased a lot because I was testing it with low Magicka and no buffs, 0 and 5 Champion Points invested in the Mage. Sorry about that ><
Actually, it doesn't, according to my testing. It only increases the damage of skills that deal *magic damage*. Each damage effect is either physical, magic, poison, disease, flame, frost, or shock type damage. It can't be more than one type. Lava Whip is flame damage as it says in the skill's description.Lava Whip gets bonus damage from both Thaumaturge and Elemental Expert. Thamaturge adds damage to ALL form of magicka attacks......as does elemental expert with each element (fire lightning frost)....it says it in the description lol

How did I test it:
I used Lava Whip on a VR 10 jackal with a character that had 0 CP spent -> 1575 damage
I used it again after spending 5 points in Thaumaturge -> 1592 damage
I reset the Champion Points to 0 and invested 5 points in Precise Strikes -> 1592 damage
I reset the Champion Points to 0 again and invested 5 points in Elemental Expert -> 1641 damage

Not sure I understand. There is a damage difference with Thaumaturge points from base.

Only because of max magicka increase, not because it increases Flame Whip damage. That's why 5 points in precise strikes added the same damage as 5 points in Thaumaturge.. that proves Thaumaturge doesn't directly increase Flame Whip damage, only its indirect max magicka increase does.
