Sorcerer Overload Ultimate - Why does it stop letting me attack?

I'm using Overload in PVE at times. I'm getting frustrated because it stops working while still active (like it's stuck) and I can't use a weapon attack. What causes this? Also, why does it rearrange my toolbar? Thanks for your help.

Using this ultimate replaces your light and heavy attacks with different versions. These new light and heavy attacks use Ultimate to power them, so if you run out of Ultimate, even while this is still toggled on, you will no longer be able to use light or heavy attacks, and will need to toggle the ability off.

You get a third bar of abilities while this is on, which is somewhat of a benefit since you can stick it with only the abilities you want to use while it is running.

Now it makes more sense. I also found out that it won't toggle unless you use certain abilities that use your weapon, so if you have none on your bar, it won't revert back to your weapon, it'll just seem to hang. Thanks for the help.

It replaces your weapon with lightning charged magic hands. Think of it as a third weapon swap. When you activate Overload you get a third bar. The Overload bar has the abilities from one of your two normal weapon swap bars loaded in by default. If you have any weapon abilities in those slots and you try to use them with Overload activated it will swap you back to your normal weapon bar. You can, however, use any ability that is not a weapon ability in those slots without deactivating Overload. You can replace abilities on your Overload bar by activating Overload and then just switch them out.

Actually it's kinda buggy, the overload will toggle off automatically if you completely deplete it ....but if you fail to deplete it and it stops charging just below enough to use the skill then you will have inadequate ultimate to use but it will still be toggled

In addition to this, using other skills while in Overload can be...clunky, I guess is the best way to describe it.

Not gonna complain too much though, it's a good ultimate, and one of the saving graces of the sorcerer class.

i have a mod that allows me to track how much ultimate i have, 1000 being the max, starting from 1000, it will sometimes stop at around 800 for a few seconds. After moving around a bit and attempting more light attacks, it starts working again, but those few seconds of not working are usually at the most crucial moment in the battle, this is a very real, and very annoying bug with overload. This happens in pvp too, and let me tell you, dying due to this bug is annoying.

Edit: i Should also say that overload stops working entirely in the quest to be a vampire. light or heavy, your ult reverts to the weapon.

edit edit: its a great ultimate, the light attacks alone make it the best dps in my arsanal, making me a terror in 1v1 pvp and against bosses of all types, i use it far more than any other ultimate, and im sad to see that it has so many problems.

While it's tempting to use it, I've had much more success with pairing certain skills with the elemental ultimate. Especially for boss fights. I find the Overload ultimate too clunk to use on a regular basis. Now I'm experimenting with some other combinations to see what I can come up with. Thanks everyone for the help.

it does auto toggle off when out of ultimate, we are speaking of pauses in its attack not unlike the mount 'stopgo' glitch of a few weeks back

Necroing a thread because this seems to still be a problem. Sometimes in the middle of a fight, even when you have a lot of ultimate left, Light/Heavy attacks will just stop working. You then have to run around and keep trying until finally it will work again- very frustrating when it happens in the middle of a Group Boss battle, which is the only time I use it.

As for what people have on the Overload bar, I'm using all defensive abilities and Clannfear pet to draw aggro- so the ONLY offensive ability I have is Overload's Light/Heavy attacks- which means when they stop working, it becomes a MAJOR problem.

I still remember the glorious golden times when overload allowed you to use weapon attacks on its bar.
God, my build would be so much better if I wouldn't need some weapon abilities on my bar

But Overload itself used to be very very weak back then, but was soooo good for AoE builds.

Because overload heavy attacks were quite usefull and you could use impulse from this bar. The damage against groups of monsters was really good and with the old Ultimate regeneration, you never ran out of Ultimate energy. That was my leveling build back then, luckily it got nerfed after I have finished leveling.
