The Console Beta is a 54+GB download, apparently.

Fine example of reading between the lines I did here:
Everyone participating in the ESOTU console beta test will have access to the full console version of the game, not a slimmed down version.
At the moment, the client will exceed a 50GB Blu-ray disc which means there will also be a large day-one patch that is somewhere in the region of 15GB.

So apparently ZoS thinks everyone that gets invited (no invite for me yet) can download ~65GB in a fast enough time to still make a four day beta. :|

EDIT/UPDATE: Official client beta is a 54GB download on both PSN and XB1.

O.o many consoles cannot even Hold that amount of data reasonably, at least if the owner plans on playing and downloading other games

Xbox One comes with a 500Gb hard drive, but only 362 GB is usable. That still leaves right under 300 GB for other games, which is plenty in my opinion.

No clue on PS4 spacing, I don't own one.

Don't get me wrong, I like large games. Saying 65GB is "not much" though is just incorrect though. That's a very large game by any system's (or even PC) standards.

That seems like an unreasonable amount of data. I doubt people pay $500 plus the Xbox live subscription just to play ESO. There isn't any other way they could have done this? This is from IGN:

"Your 500 GB Xbox One hard drive might fill up faster than you think. This is because your Xbox One's 500 GB hard drive can only technically store only 362GB of content. This is because the Xbox One reserves the remaining space for its OS and other unknown functions."

Where did you get that number from? $250 for a 500GB Xbox One, $60 for ESO, that's $310 and all you need to play ESO on Xbox One, if you don't already own an Xbox One.

Nevermind, that is an Xbox 360 price.

Geez that sucks, I wish they gave us a few days to download the client before the beta actually started, my super awesome Australian internet will probably have me missing a day or 2 of the beta.

    Also,

I wish we could que up patches on consoles, so many games these days require a day one patch, and these patches are usually available like at least a day or 2 before the games official release, but you can't actually download the patch till the game is in your console, would be nice if we could...I dunno, like add games we plan to get to a list and the console would auto-download patches as they became available.

Well, at least there are no NDA's for the handful who get invites and have the bandwidth to handle that kind of download.

Yeah especially when your drive only stores 500GB and you only have about 362GB of actual usable space. It's all about perspective. My computer has 1TB so 65GB isn't relatively that much.

I don't need to and fail to see your argument. Are you complaining that eso is big in comparison to other games or that it is too big of a download or what.

Games get bigger over time. If someone wants to play eso they can find 65gb.

I was only asking if there wasn't some better way they could have done it. This size is only going to get bigger with updates, DLC, and expansions. Something to consider before investing time into playing it on a console.

Actually hold on a second, I swear when I downloaded it on my pc for the welcome back weekend it was only like 30gigs, was I mistaken?
Did it just download some of it then download the rest in the background as needed?

Also if I'm not mistaken and it was only like 30gigs why is the console version so much more?

Check your PC folder size. My fully playable game + launcher folder size (NO PTS) is 42 GB. Far off the 65 GB for consoles.

Yes, the full game will be approximately 50GB, plus an additional patch that is somewhere in the range of 15GB.

I'm saying 65 GB isn't much compared to the 362 GB space available on an Xbox One, but 65 GB is indeed a lot of space just for one game to use.

1/6 of an entire memory space seems like quite a lot to me. If more games start getting bigger as well players are going to have very little capacity to hold memory for very many games.

Also the real problem in concern to the beta is the downloading time. 65 GB can take a long time for a lot of people, so those who are willing to try out the beta might be unable to or at least only do so for a very short time because of this giant download.
    It's all good Bollywood
