Is Console Text Chat Being Worked On?

I currently play my Xbox One in a room with two T.V.'s. My parents use the second T.V. almost all the time which I use my headset to listen to my Xbox with. As a result I cannot use my microphone except at certain times. Has any announcements to console text chat being worked on been made? I know a lot of users have requested it.

That information was from April of this year (i.e. before console's release). Obviously they have had a considerable amount of time and feedback since then which may or may not have caused them to change their minds. All we are asking for is to find out if they have any plans to add console text chat in the future. Is that really too much to ask for at this point? Note that ZOS has a history of saying one thing and doing something else so I would not take their previous statement as absolute.

It has only been brought up a couple of times and it was very early before console release. In the live episode they only brought up that they didn't think players would want to use a keyboard from their couch ( which is wrong ). They have not confirmed that this would never happen and haven't even mentioned the subject in months

They also said it was happening but that turned out to be a mistake by the community manager at the time. We are all waiting for text chat or a firm response from ZOS that out ain't coming ever.

Exactly! So far I'm communicating in jumps and shooting my staff at objects.

I used to play on PC, but my computer is no longer under warrenty and I have had a lot of issues with it. I have had it repaired, but I am going to keep it as a web browsing computer. I am going to get my first gaming desktop sometime between January and March, I've used laptops for so long I came to a realization it's just to expensive to keep buying a new laptop every two years to keep updated. For now I am playing on Xbox One while I can save money.

EDIT: This does not mean I don't want text chat, I absolutely do, so when I do play on Xbox One I can communicate the way I am able to currently.

I don't think they care enough about us to implement it. Even though it's a MMO basic feature they would rather know best and ignore us again and again.

January sales! I'm hoping to be able to afford a decent PC set up then too. If I did swap to ESO on PC it won't be until then.

Wait a second, we might not need a keyboard with the Xbox One chat adapter. In that case both voice and text could be used = everyone's happy.

I saw it online, but I can't link it as I am on my Xbox browser currently.

I have a usb wireless keyboard plugged into my console. I've had that set up for years they work with pretty much any brand. I guess not many people know about it since they don't mention it as a feature

I didn't know that. When you say "any brand" do you mean latest generation consoles?

Well like logitec HP ect. It will work with previous and current gen. Xbox/PS not so sure about nintendo products. The easy no set up wireless versions work the best or you can use a wired one

Is console text chat being worked on ? The last thing I heard from ZOS about that matter was on twitch chat, I think it was from Gina, she said in chat that they are aware of all the requests but they have nothing new to share about it. I watched every single ESO lives til then and still nothing. There is always some dude spaming "Console text chat" during every lives. xD

In my opinion, if they were working on it, they would have told us so, just like they did told us that housing and the barber shop is coming. But they kept silence for a lot of very wanted stuff, and one day, TADA! "This is coming." Keep asking for it.

Some new information would be great, its been nearly six months since launch with countless threads asking for it and nothing from ZO$ about whether its being worked on or if its even planned at all. Please can we get an update @ZOS_RichLambert @ZOS_GinaBruno

Sure, but a console is always cheaper and comes with native controllers! xD Plus, you don't have to upgrade it with every new game or so, to have the better settings possible, you don't have weird incompatibilities or issues that may occur with some components of your PC, etc. Console = easier life! But no text chat.

Still...at least I have plenty of content to finish before I really have to worry about grouping up with people with whom I can't communicate (sleeping baby + sleeping wife + me using my mic = awake baby + awake wife + dead husband / father).

More and more this game just seems to be about how much money ZOS can make off us while we're still willing to play and pay.

I do hope I am wrong however because I really do like this game.

They just seem not to care about what we the players want or have to say about the game.

I would absolutely take console text chat over player housing or a barber shop. I would even take it over the DLC recently released.

I really hope text chat comes to console. I like this game a lot but its honestly the most lonely mmo I have ever played. I don't have any friends who play and I can't make any new friends.

I don't understand why they would be against it. It works great for the FFXIV arr mmo. Hopefully they are working on it.

In a few years when my kid grows up more I can use my headset more often and it becomes a non issue for me but it's just more convenient to be able to sit with my family and game at the same time using text chat. I don't say much anyway I more listen and support my group.
