Guest passes: A new guild trader concept

I see a lot of threads about an auction house system VS the guild trader system and no matter what happens half of the population will be upset. This is my attempt at a compromise for players that are not able to get into big trade guilds while still letting trade guilds profit (perhaps even more). With this concept a guild can offer to sell guest passes for 1 day 3 days 1 week times to non guild members that when used will allow you to list items at their guild store during that time period all fees and taxes included (can also be accessed via bank menu). The guildmaster can set the price of these passes and whether to have them or not but can only change this once per day (if implemented it would be disabled by default) . if the guest passes are disabled after someone purchases one the passes will still work for the remaining duration. a player can only have 3 guest passes activated at a time. A GM or someone with permission can take out 5 passes per day in order to trade them with other players this feature can also let small guilds have some action in the economy.

what do you think? to me it sounds like a win-win to me.

    I think this is a really excellent idea.

    Maybe make a "guest pass" tab on the guild store like they have for guild tabbards so that anyone visiting a store's Kiosk can simply buy a pass right there.

    That way people can easily get passes for the Kiosks in areas they think would be good for sales without the hassle of /whispering anyone.

    I see nothing wrong with this idea... Guilds would make more money... acquiring guild traders would be more useful... any player can sell if they want.

    This is actually a neat idea. It doesn't solve the issue of not being able to search globally (not buying globally) but it does solve the issue of players not in a guild being able to sell stuff. I think your time frames for the passes might need to be adjusted a little though. I think it would be difficult to move an item in 1 day (depending on the item, of course). I'd say something more like 1 week, 1 month, and say, 3 months? Any listed items would have to be forcefully expired when the pass expires, too.

    This is a dangerous idea... I oppose it out of principle even though I would be the one person in EU PC server who would benefit the most from this.

    Unless I have seriously misunderstood, what you are proposing basically removes the limit on how many traders can sell from a trade guild. The 500-man guild population limit is one of the major factors (along with the one guild, one guild trader limit) that prevents a trade guild from actually dominating the economy, because I cannot physically fit all the traders I want in my guild, and thus those not active enough are constantly removed.

    I run the highest selling trade guild in EU, this means that I already have more income than anyone else, which means I have a monster guild bank (currently 65M) that deters competition from my rivals and makes it unlikely that anyone can dislodge me from the best guild trader. If I could sell "licenses" for non-members to sell from my guild trader, then naturally most people will choose the best guild traders, so my income would increase even more relative to poorer trade guilds. If I were particularly Machiavellian I would eventually be so much richer than everyone else that I could use puppet guilds (with mulitple accounts ofc) to monopolize all guild traders.

    tl:dr this idea will concentrate wealth in the strongest trade guilds even more, and risk one or two individuals becoming way too powerful for the good of the economy.

    Nice idea! I can see the issues that could arise by bypassing the 500-member limit that Heindrich mentioned, so maybe each Guild would only have a certain number of passes available, say 20?

    I assume these passes would be sold through the Guild Store? How would you put your items on sale? Would you go to the Guild Trader as though you were buying something, and the rest of the UI options would be open as though you were at a bank?

    Why would anyone join more than one or two guilds as this removed the purpose of those "trading guilds" and bids on guild traders
