A typical day in Cyrodiil on PS4 (for me):
I queue up for my campaign, and thankfully avoid a perma-load time, so I am off to a great start. After traveling to one of the keeps, I hit my first road block in the form of a door that will not open. I try swapping weapons because sometimes that helps, but nope. So I sigh out loud and proceed to sprint up the stairs and around to get out of the keep. OK I'm on my way. After picking off a couple stragglers heading to the battle, I find myself locked in combat... unable to mount or sneak. I let out another long sigh and start sprinting the rest of the way...
Ok so I'm in a siege now! Great let's do this!... So here's the part where the 4th Faction of Tamriel begins to envelop the entire battlefield with it's overwhelming presence. LAG FACTION. Everyone on the map is afflicted with the inability to use their abilities with any kind of timing or success. Guess I'll just try to shoot some light arrow attacks til we take this keep. Oh, what's that? I can't because I lag out and I find myself reading a death recap of a fight that never took place, at least it didn't on my television screen.
After I facepalm for about 12 full seconds IRL, I respawn and head back out. Lo' and Behold I am STILL locked in combat! After I revived! Wow... I don't even...
I sprint for the next 10 minutes back to the siege (never being allowed to mount up). I finally get to some small engagements outside the main battle ( figure this'll be better, maybe my connection is just bad right now) I try to initiate combat with a Critical Rush. BAM, hit with the "any-charge-type ability animation-lock" bug. I curse out loud and wait, and watch, while my allies are overtaken and I am quickly swarmed, effectively and indefinitely CCed by no one. Why? Because I tried to play the game I guess.
I am done raging but I just wanted to make a post about my experience: that I bought this game after a year of waiting and watching PC players enjoy it. I read different reviews that said "they have fixed a lot of the bugs" and " it's like a whole new game a year later". Man, I was so excited.
But I guess my naivete has really gotten me this time because my hopes were so high that now it is agonizing for me to even think that this game may not be worth my time after all.
I'll keep playing, leveling, grinding solo til i have a couple VR14s I guess and maybe see that patch and what it has to offer, but as far as I'm concerned PvP is unplayable right now. What a sad thing.
edit: People seem to be focusing on my complaints of lag, which was one small part of my post. This is part of the problem, but my biggest issues are with the endless bugs (doors, animation glitches, not being able to leave combat, etc)
Glitches like these are due to the game mechanics being sloppy, not the ZoS servers or anything doing with internet.
