Don't use hist bark

mousekime111rwb17_ESO
Not only won't it stack with major evasion, but it takes priority over it.
I tested this by wearing a full set of hist bark, casting blur and holding block while a dreugh whaled on me. 405 hits later i'd dodged 73 hits (18.2% dodge rate compared to Major evasions 20%)

I loved how it would stack before the major/minor buff change
but since then indeed it doesnt stack, so either use the set, or use a skill

meh, armor skills shouldn't be usable unless you have 5+ pieces of that armor imho.

Still find hist bark to be a good set since I'm not using blur anyway.

If you use the set, you don't have to slot a skill to get a chance to evade. Seems like a winner in my book.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Okay. I knew that. I'm still going to keep Hist Bark for a permanent free passive dodge and use that hotbar slot for something else.

They need to buff the set to 20% dodge if it isn't going to stack with major evasion.

Water is wet. We didn't need a thread to tell us that. Completely agreed @rosveen

That seems to be within the margin of error for 20%.

Personally, I love Hist Bark. As an NB, though you have the choice of using the skill or the armor, which some classes don't have.

Once blocking stops stamina recovery, the hist bark set is going to die out. No sense trying to hold block for dodging when you get more effect out of an ability.

Everyone can use the medium armour skill though to the same effect (although blur grants minor fortification or whatever the minor armour buff is)

You mean don't use Hist Bark in combination with dodge skills.

A lot of us already knew that but thanks.

Not only Hist Bark, but also Footman and Unassailable only give their bonus while blocking.....

    with perma blocking to expensive
    say 50% blocking sustainable

double the dodge of hist bark to 36%
and double as well the 12% of footman and 3.6k resist of unassailable

    how about that?

The set is still better than using Blur because instead of slotting blur it frees up a slot on my bar, which I will take over losing 2% dodge any day.

I detest any type of dodge/miss chance in any game that has that type of thing. I am fine with dodge rolls because they are interactive at least, but having dodge chance passively just feels unnatural. I wish ZOS would find a way to get rid of it all together and change all dodge effects to something a little more active. I guess it's a necessary evil to support evasion tank builds, so for diversity's sake I guess it's fine.

As much as I hate it, I would tend to agree with what others have stated that 18% on your armor is probably worth freeing up the skill slot even if it isn't as good as the 20% buff (marginal difference).

Hmm, let's see.... 20% dodge chance or 90% damage mitigation? I'll take my 90% any day.

Yeah... see, that's my issue. If I'm looking at building a tank, giving up my 5pc armor bonus instead of taking blur... I don't know. I mean, I honestly don't know on that one.

You still have to hold block. Otherwise, you'll get one-shot by most bosses 80% of the time. Also, with no stamina regen, you will be able to hold block 20% longer because a dodge from Hist Bark uses no stamina.

Technically, "you have a 20% chance to hold block longer."

I'm still not sure why there's an actual dodge stat in this game. If it was a dodge/roll discount, then that would make sense. But as it is? There already is dodging in the game. It's called double tapping a directional key. Why is there also a stat for it?

Sorry, slightly weird off topic rant.
