Curing vampire and lost skill points

This just happened to me. Is it a known issue on console because I thought it was fixed on pc. How do I get those points back?

This is good to know. I'm gonna spread the word amongst my friends to respec before curing their ailments.
It might be similar to the Guild store. If you have something for sale and cancel the listing it mails you the items but it takes 15 to 30 minutes to be recieved by you, so maybe it's similar? As in take X amount of time to pop up. If not send a ticket in and hope for the best.

Yeah, I guess it wasn't fixed...go figure. No problem as you do get them back if you reset your skill points. Just kind of ridiculous you need to spend more gold to respec, when you are already paying for the cure. :/

is that really a bug or whatever i mean that should just be common sense...you put skill points into somthing then get rid of it that seems like its on you

Why would that make sense? You earn those skill points from skyshards, quests, dungeons etc.... You have them to put into skills and vampire, werewolf are skills. If that is the case then if we reset skill points we might as well lose all of them.....That makes no sense at all. The point is the way they did it is forcing you to respec all points to get those lost points back instead of recovering them when you get cured. Paying twice for something is dumb.

To keep the amount of gold in-game down. Helps the in-game economy... Or so I'm told.

no one forced you to put points into vampire or werewolf skill trees and no one forced you to cure it. those are both your choices.

makes sense to me.... maybe im just stupid

You have to respec before you drop Vamp or WW, or you lose access to the skill points you spent in those skill lines. It's been that way since day 1 on PC, and is also present in the console version.

The skill points aren't lost - they're just still sitting on skills that you no longer have access to. If you don't respec before curing vampirism (or lycanthropy) then those skill points stay inaccessible for respecs unless you become a vampire (or werewolf) again. If you become one again, then the skill points are right where you left them, and you can respec at that point to move them elsewhere.

Not ideal, I know, but at least they're not gone for good.

The question I asked originally had absolutely nothing to do with being forced to put points into vamp or werewolf. I just wanted to know how to get the points back. Thanks to some other posters here, I realized they are still available to me if I just get bit again and then respec before curing once more. The comment you made about completely losing the points because I took that path was irrelevant to the topic. I don't think Zos would intend for us to work for points, only to just make us lose them indefinitely. Thats what didn't make sense.

It honestly, does make perfect sense. Think about it.

You put points into WW or Vamp, then later on decide you no longer want the disease, you go cure it.
You put points into weapon branches, then later on you decide you no long wish to use that type.

Just because you stopped using/cure doesn't mean you should get the skill points back.Same with the profession skills. I've got somewhere like 19 points invested into alchemy which I no longer wish to use as it really isn't paying off in the short haul. Just because I stopped caring about it doesn't mean I get those points back.

Just pay to reset bro, eventually you become numb to it and it balances out.

OT: Making you pay to reset for all of these things, does help the economy even though it may seem like it doesn't. It keeps massive amounts of gold out of the open, forcing player to make decisions on what they actually want. Do you want to reset your skills, or buy that legendary staff?

The difference, though, is that when you pay to respec your skills you can't get the skill points back that you put into vampire skills if you have cured your vampirism. The only way that a respec gets you those skill points back is if you do the respec while you are a vampire.

One of my characters was a vampire and I got it cured when the skill line was maxed. The only thing to get your skillpoints back is doing a respec. Either before or after, respec is respec.
Just see it like if you'd choose to level a different weapon skill line, you also have tons of skillpoints in the previous skill line and would have to respec to get your skillpoints back for using them in the new tree. It's not all that bad.
But either way, the skillpoints are not lost :)

Do you want to reset your skills, or buy that legendary staff?[/quote Apparantly some are confused by what I am referring to. What I meant is that is that it does not make sense to lose those skill points and not be able to get them back. That was the what I was trying to say to ofullmetalbebop when he said I chose to be a vamp so basically I need to suffer the consequences. That is not how he said it, but how it was meant. Meaning tough loss, oh well lose it. Honestly, I dont care about respecing costs. Dumb to pay twice but I won't cry over it. I have plenty of money to do that. There are plenty of gold sinks in this game. All I really wanted to know was how to get the points back as I cured before respecing. Didn't realize they never fixed that problem from pc (I transfered to console),or I would gave respeced first and then cured. Right now those vamp points are sitting in limbo and I don't have access to them. Anyway, no problems. I have my son to bite me again so I can fix the problem and go WW. :)
