(PS4)ESO Game blue screen of death - crashes a lot now, game is unstable.

Hello,

ESO is crashing every hour or so now to a blue screen (June 20, 2015). I send reports in via ps4 but I really hope this game isn't damaging my ps4. The crashes are just completely random.

I mean run for an hour, get on my horse, crash. Log back on play 30 min click on a book, crash. Play 3 hours fine, out of the blue a crash. If I was on a PC I'd swear this was a memory leak in the game. Powering down and restarting ps4 don't help either.

I notice voice chat freaks out a lot now and wonder if voice chat problems are crashing the game:

- change zones and voice chat drops me into trade guild chat unable to switch back to area chat. There's a countdown to switch/drop out of chat that just recycles over and over. Voice chat freaks out while changing to a new zone/area.
- random voice chat drops from group chat. Group chat works fine for an hour then can't hear anyone even tho I am in the channel and standing next to them.
- I'll try shutting off voice chat all together to see if the game is more stable if I can find how under options. I'll report back later if this works.

I had the UI error when logging in and deleted the save file but that fixed the UI error but not the crashes.

    UPDATE -

When I turn all chat off and solo quest the game seems to run fine. It even loads faster (edit - no it still loads slow).

When I join chat I swear load times are longer and I crash to blue screen (CE-34878-0) error.

So it looks like voice chat is the culprit behind these blue screen crashes. If I play w/o joining any voice chat channels the game runs ok. Need to test this more.

    UPDATE #2

CONFIRMED - Playing with no voice chat (unjoin ALL voice channels) and not a single blue screen of death CE-3487-0 error through hours of playing.

As far as I'm concerned voice chat is causing the game to crash. It could be the voice chat server is lagging out and crashing the game or PSN simply can't handle all the voice chat. I don't know. All I know is the game runs fine now with voice chat off.

Sooo...looks like I'm stuck with a mediocre single player game until this is fixed.

So single player ESO is mediocre ?
Everyone knows the phenomenon of trying to hold your breath underwater - how at first it's alright and you can handle it, and then as it gets closer and closer to the time when you must breathe, how urgent the need becomes, the lust and the hunger to breathe. And then the panic sets in when you begin to think that you won't be able to breathe - and finally, when you take in air and the anxiety subsides...that's what it's like to be a vampire and need blood.

Yep. It's no Witcher 3. Hopefully they sort this game out otherwise it's finish the main story, get to 50, shelve this next to Destiny.

Never had voice chat BSoD my system before. That's pretty major game breaking bug for an mmo.

I am going to try dropping chat and see if that helps. I have the same issue (random blue screen crash). Sometimes I play for a few minutes, others I can play for an hour, but it is getting frustrating. Seems kind of crappy to have a MMO game that you can't chat on, but worth a try to be able to at least play for now.

It's been a while since I posted this but I have been playing with voice chat completely shut off and my BSoD crashes have pretty much cleared up. I'll get a crash in Cyrodiil every once in a while, even with chat off, but regular solo questing/leveling does not crash at all with chat off.

I always send the report in on the blue screen and hope maybe that will help them troubleshoot the issue but who knows where those BSoD reports go too.

On a side note, Planetside 2 was having problems with in game voice chat on ps4. Chat was causing massive frame rate drops and shutting chat off fixed frame rate issues. I don't know if Ps4 can handle voice chat without problems in an mmo (not a 4 player co-op but actual massive player mmo).

I get crashes sometimes when Im riding my full 60 speed mount, I kind of think its because of the max speed. Also I get some weird voice when theres lots like 15+ in same both on mount and riding.

it seems to be with the mount and using the sprint at the same time or before it... for some reason i'm either mounting, about to sprint on the horse or dismounting.

and i get the whole.. crash thing.

crashes in cyrodiil the worst though... so maybe the amount of players involved at a certain area. who knows. at least it only takes 2 minutes to log back in

I guess that might be because when you resurrect or teleport, you sometimes get re-added to chat channels (very, very annoying).

I find ps4 crashes alot once you have been on the game constantly for about 5 hours.
The fps drops and never really recovers, once this happens, someone might drop (im my exprience) solar prison and the game's fps is below 10 for sure. - game will just hate it and crash.

Dropping in-game chat does seem to make the game more stable. Can't prove anything, just share the same impressions others have.

When grouping, just use PS4 native Party for voice comm. It works much better anyway, seems ESO chat volume is very unstable.

I made this post 2 months ago and learned to live with PS4 ESO's issues. I haven't played with voice chat on for a while now to keep the game stable.

    It's two problems:
1.) Using in game Voice chat seems to cause a lot of blue screen of death crashing on Ps4. Other players reported that shutting off voice chat helps with the crashing.

2.) Performance degrades over time in Cyrodiil until the game crashes with voice chat off. With in-game voice chat on crashing in Cyrodiil occurs way more often. I can play the PvE zones with chat off and won't crash at all or maybe once after hours of playing.

It be what it be
I'll keep playing with voice chat off until this is fixed.

I'm at the point now where I only join a voice chat channel when I absolutely have to. Hope they get a chance to look into this soon!

I also tested the theory out and yes, voice chat seems to trigger blue screens. Ouch.

I'm going to have to try this and see if it helps. I always play with the same people anyway so I'll use party chat. Sucks in Cyrodiil though seeing as it's often nice to here what groups are planning to do in area chat.

I play the game single player with chat turned off the moment I start and I've had 34878 errors 4 times since I bought the game around two weeks ago, I've also shut down and rebuilt the database after each crash for piece of mind. I have 2 characters at level 15 one with, and one without a horse, and the crash still happens so from my perspective chat and horse riding don't seem to be causing it.

It seems the four times it's happened on me has been in the starting cities. I was wondering if player intensity in these areas could be causing it? Just a thought.

I think there's something definitely wrong with the coding involved with the voice chat feature. And yes. I too have noticed when I disable the voice chat features, the game seems to run more smoothly. I just hope ZoS fixes the game, because I'm really starting to get into the game via console. And it's like these bugs are ruining the experience for me big time. How can you enjoy a game that crashes every 2 hours or so?

    Fixes & Improvements

The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited v01.06 is an incremental patch for the PlayStation®4, approximately 250MB in size. In this patch, we have made some improvements to reduce the frequency of a commonly-occurring crash.

Hmm? I wonder if they finally fixed our problem? The part about "reduce the frequency" rather than "fix" is kind of strange tho.

I know this probably don't matter, but are any of you playing using the disk to start up the game or using a digital copy? The reason why I am asking is I play with a digital copy of the game, and I never had 1 bsod or crash yet since I bought the game when it first came out. I have no idea why you guys are having all these problems. :(

I am playing the digital version as is my husband. We both have crashed numerous times (about 35 times each) since we started playing in the beginning of July. How long have you actually owned the game?
