My stats:

And here's my main skill bar for the final boss fight:

1qRf0TE.png

Until I got to the final boss, I wasn't using the Twilight, so I had Ball of Lightning slotted instead, with Restraining Prison on the off bar for crowd control. BoL was incredibly useful for running circles around the fire spitting Daedra that seem to be everywhere in CoA. BTW, what's up with these guys who say Crystal Blast isn't a good spell? I can solo anything with CB... it does everything: damage, knockdown and AOE. Crushing Shock does such weak damage now, I can't bear to have it slotted.

As you can see, I was using both Dampen Magic AND Hardened Ward... that's the trick to getting a Vamp through sticky situations like this. The CoA boss has a fire attack that hits for 12000+, so you don't want to eat too many of those! Once you get his health down low, a horde of Fire Atronachs come out of nowhere, so you're gonna be spamming those wards nonstop until the boss is dead.

Anyone curious about my gear? I was wearing 4 pc Healer (Neck, Rings + Hood), 2 pc Torug's Pact (Robe, Breeches) and 5 pc Way of the Arena on all the small pieces of armor and the two Destro staves. My main staff is Frost with Precise, while my secondary staff is Shock with Precise. I don't like Fire staffs because the burning proc might steal a Surge heal.

If you are on a console, no he can't.. also it would really help people if you put what platform you were using in the Title of the thread you made asking for a bite.
There is also another area in the forums called Players Helping Players where people are asking for bites and having better luck getting help.

    Now to the OP:

THIS is freaking awesome!!!! I love being able to solo stuff that shouldn't be soloable. Thanks for sharing your build. Very informative. May have to try this in the future.

While it is still an accomplishment, my guess is that is normal CoA which the normal dungeons, even when scaled to V12, are much less challenging than the vet dungeons.

Great question! I used to have 4 pc of Martial Knowledge and 1 more pc of Torug's Pact (the staff) in those slots, but I found that the ability to break CC whenever I needed to was far more valuable than the extra spell damage. I can still do 9500 DPS sustained, but I was pushing 11K with the Martial Knowledge set. Solo PvE requires some hard tradeoffs, sometimes.

Yep, it's normal CoA. I've never heard of anybody soloing Vet CoA in recent memory... have you?

After reading this i had to peek in myself to see what kind of place it is to solo. As a nightblade tank and not vamp i got through. I don't think there is much to discuss how impressive it is to solo an instance dungeon. The impressive part is doing a dungeon with fire theme as a vamp. Grats Emma, you really got through the rain of fire!

Did you have any other fire mitigation like CPs reducing elemental damage? It is tempting to take vamp back, but i do often vDSA and vCoA, and i am wondering the pros and cons. Half year ago i removed vampirism because of these places.

All my jewelry has gold spell cost reduction enchants, so no mitigation there. I do, however, have enough CP in elemental damage reduction to knock off 5 or 6%, but that's not nearly enough to offset the Vampire curse. None of that really matters, though, when your build depends so much on shields like Hardened Ward and Dampen Magic... this is just the reality after Update 1.6 for Sorcerers! Usually Hardened Ward is enough, but Dampen Magic has to be added for some battles.

    no

to the OP: This is amazing! You give me hope. I've been a vampire since PC launch and had no trouble with fire. Now I can shove this in the face of everyone in zone chat who says vampire sucks :P

Oh and I was wondering why twilight over clannofear?

The first time I did the final fight, the clannfear couldn't keep up with the boss, who teleports from one random area to another. I figured I was better off with the twilight's ranged attack and the extra regen.

The second time I ran COA, I knew what to expect and let the clannfear aggro the adds while I concentrated on the boss.

I switched from Dampen Magic to the Harness Magicka morph since then, but they both have their pros and cons. Harness Magicka does help you from running out of magicka.

Everyone knows the phenomenon of trying to hold your breath underwater - how at first it's alright and you can handle it, and then as it gets closer and closer to the time when you must breathe, how urgent the need becomes, the lust and the hunger to breathe. And then the panic sets in when you begin to think that you won't be able to breathe - and finally, when you take in air and the anxiety subsides...that's what it's like to be a vampire and need blood.

I had around 200 CP when I posted this, but I've got around 300 now. It does make a difference. According to my calculations, though, I'll have most of the benefits that I need from the CS at 600 CP. Everything after that will be icing on the cake.
