I was bored the other day and thought I'd work on getting the laundering achievement, so I started gathering blues and greens. After I'd laundered them all, I actually stopped to read the descriptions and found some that are quite funny. This got my OCD working, and I've been trying to get as many distinct stolen items as I can for the past few days. This is what I've got (no purples so far, unfortunately):

As of now, hoarding these items serves no purpose whatsoever other than satisfying my weird collector urges. It occurred to me that it would be interesting if all or some of these items could be grouped in collections (e.g. silverware, cutlery, jewels, war memorabilia) with some white, green, blue and purple items in each. After you complete the collection, you could get an achievement, a title, or the items could change into a "collection" item that could be sold for significant gold (e.g. 50k) or maybe traded with other players with the same inclination for collecting.

[EDIT] By the way, does anyone know of a more complete database for stolen items, possibly including descriptions?

    bravo :)

I'd LOVE to have 5 blues to provide a set bonus along the lines of

2 pieces: Increase run speed by 5%
3 pieces: Increase mount travel speed by 5%
4 pieces: Increase sneak speed by 10%
5 pieces: Decrease harvesting time by 20%

Something like this. A set you would wear while doing things like harvesting nodes, travelling, thieving, etc.

Thanks, though I think there's some confusion in your post. While stolen clothes are wearable, they only come in white quality. Stolen armour comes in white or green (at least I never found a blue piece of armour to steal), but they're just the same as regular armour, so I didn't bother listing them. The other white, green and blue items listed are just items that sit in your inventory, they're not equippable in any slot. Or do you mean you would simply bring the objects around and they would give those bonuses even though they're not equipped?

I hear ya, I was just adding my own half-baked idea on top of what you're saying.

To focus more on your post, yeah, achievements would indeed be cool. And yes, I think anything that allows players to get something a bit more tangible in rewards through this would be a HUGE benefit. Even if it means picking tons of NPCs to find the right items.

I have nothing against harsher consequences for my mischiefs, but seriously, what's actually in the justice system? A 20-level, passives-only skill line you can max in a few days? A few colors and titles? The money you make from it isn't that great after the recent nerf to stolen weapons and armour (and for the record, I totally agree with that nerf).

I'm happy to try and get all the achievements in the Justice System - only missing the Black Market Mogul and the one about escaping after getting caught, I must not be getting caught enough :D But after I do that there is no incentive whatsoever to pick a pocket or break a lock.

    Some Clarifications:

Green Armor is green armor, we could always pull that from containers in the game. Now it's just stolen if we pull it from an owned container.

Last year, they added lootable white armor and weapons to the world. Prior to all that, armor and weapon racks were static and could not be interacted with. This Armor has 0 value, almost no Inspiration on decon, and no mats when you decon it. This was to design. But, it supposedly has the appearance of Epic when you wear it. They added 0 value white armor to the container loot lists last year for some inexplicable reason. So, when you looked in a container before, you would either get 0 value armor or Green Armor/Weapons you could do something with (sell, decon, use etc) or other normal loot.

Then when the JS System came out, they seemed to replace the white armor and weapons that are on display or in racks with normal armor like you would get from mob loot. This armor has value and can be deconned for normal (or near normal) mats and inspiration. But, we still have the 0 value or Green armor in the containers and the 0 value stuff is still worthless for crafting purposes. So, keep that in mind if your looting for items to deconstruct for leveling craft skills.

Not sure if all armor and weapons in racks/displays is normal or if some is still the 0 value stuff, nor do I know if containers only have 0 Value and Green or a mix of all 3. I just grab it all and sort it out later.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Yeah, thanks for the detailed explanation. The focus of my post wasn't really all of the items you can steal (which also includes crafting materials, recipes and motifs) but only those items that serve no other purpose than the Justice System. There seems to be an endless variety and I was wondering if anyone had listed them all and if they couldn't be used in better ways than just hoarding/fencing.

Scientific studies have shown that people who work out their "antisocial" angst in games are far less likely to act out irl and actually become better citizens. This includes ingame "murder" and "stealing". Besides, the game has created this opportunity for a reason and drastically (and I mean DRASTICALLY) decreased available loot at least in part, I would think, to encourage thievery and use of the "Justice System" which they worked very hard to provide for our enjoyment! Stealing ingame is not going to turn anyone into a real live thief.

So please, remember it's a GAME and enjoy yourself!

And consider this: Players who steal ingame are stealing from pixels created solely FOR that purpose.

On the contrary, players who decide at some future date to allegedly/supposedly "side with the law" and become bounty hunters are the ones who will actually be stealing, in a very real way, from other players...real live human beings represented by the characters in the game.

Kind of sends all those lofty notions regarding right and wrong spinning if you're honest with yourself, yes?

    Happy Travels!

Ok ... So there is no actual purpose to stolen treasures (such as : blue - dimly glowing malondo stone) because I go to sell and it will tell me that I can't buy it back from a fence if I were to sell it as if it were important.... IDK.. super confused. help ?

UESP has a pretty comprehensive list of stolen goods and their descriptions (I've added data to it myself). But it's missing item qualities and images for most. You can check it out here.

    http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Contraband

@corexisguhmazin Just sell them for gold. The warning is only there so you don't accidentally sell a blue or purple motif/recipe and have no way of getting it back.
