Of course they want to make money. The issue people have is how they want to make money.


They could make money by creating cool cosmetics & lots of content DLC, they could make money with character slots, or creating new classes & selling them (similar to MOBAs).

But no, they want to make money by giving advantages to players (P2W) and thus ruining it for good majority of population (http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/159484/do-you-want-p2w/p1).

There's other F2P/B2P games they could look at for inspiration. Some are entirely P2W free (MOBAs come to mind), some others are slightly P2W... then comes ESO, which is about to become one of the most blatantly P2W MMOs out there by indirectly selling stat boosts through Cash Shop.
