Since we launched The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited, we've seen lots of players, both new and returning, interested in jumping into the game. Based on the questions we've been receiving, we've put together the following guides to ensure everyone who wants to play ESO can find the relevant resources in our knowledge base. Please take a look through the resources listed below and follow the steps that fit your situation.
I played during beta but never purchased the game.
If you participated in an ESO beta event but never purchased the game, you will need to do so in order to play The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited. You can purchase a digital copy of ESO directly through our PC/Mac store or from an authorized retailer.
Once you've purchased ESO, you can download and install the game directly from your ESO account page. Please note that if you purchased the game from anywhere other than the ESO PC/Mac store, you will need to apply to your account the unique Game Registration Code provided to you with your purchase. If you buy a digital copy of the game from the ESO PC/Mac store, the necessary game code will be automatically applied to your account.
If the "Download Game" button is not available, make sure you have redeemed to your account the unique Game Registration Code that came with your purchase of ESO.
I haven't bought the game, but I was able to login just fine on March 17/18, and now I can't.
For a short time following the launch of The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited, some beta participants were able to download and play ESO without having redeemed a valid Game Registration Code. This issue has since been resolved, and players will need to have purchased ESO in order to play it.
