Stolen skill points

So, I just cured my vampirism - the skill points I had invested in the skill line are now gone... Needless to say I want them back. I cured the vampirism to use the skill points for something else in the first place.
wth?

You're supposed to respec before you get cured. Consider it a lesson learned.

But should I just consider the time spent accumulating those points utterly wasted?

I am pretty sure you get them back if you respec or if you get infected again and respec.I know that if you get infected you get them back but I do not know if a simple respec will return the hidden points for sure.

It's not common knowledge but a little research beforehand would have been wise

Did you earn the Skill Points from doing Vampire like things? It kind of makes sense that you lose them if you give up the ability.

If you earned these skill points by say collecting Skyshards or Level Ups or Base Game Quests, then this is bad.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

The skill points aren't lost just inaccessible. You will receive them back if you respect even after cured but in case this doesn't work just get infected again then respect and get cured. Otherwise contact the help desk in game and see if they can help you that way.

Thanks for the heads up.. I figured this would've been fixed by now. Going to hold off on curing wolf.

A little research would in retrospect have been wise, but it does in no way excuse this mechanic. I'm playing a game doing ingame stuff and suddenly Im robbed of something I have accumulated ingame.
And no you don't get vampire specific skill points, they're just skill points.

It won't be fixed because it is not broken. Once you use skill point on any skill, it is gone until you respec. There is no way around this and it works the same way in all skill lines. When you respec, you get yor all spent skill points back. Even those you have spent on vampire skill line, even if you are not vampire at the time you respec. There is nothing to fix. You don't get skill points back from armor skill lines without respec, you don't get skill points back from vampire skill lines without respec. Working as intended, deal with it.

You are not robbed of anything. You used the skill points on vampire skills. The points are still there, used on those skills and they will be there if you become vampire again. Skill line is invisible to you and passives are disabled because you are not a vampire. Only way to ever get points back to spend on something else is to respec.

Thanks for that clarification. You, sir, are a champion! And you just made my night :)

Nobody stole your skill rolls / sweet points, they are still there in the vampire skill line. If you become a disciple of Lamae again, you will be able to access them. Until then, may you not cross the path of one of your former brethren in a vengeful mood.

Skill points are never lost, If you are cured, the skill points are still there locked in the vampire line (you just can't see the skill line anymore) and will be released if you respec.

You can respec before or after being cured, either way you will get the skill points back.

But getting cured alone will not release them. Only a respec.

No, they're still there in the skill line, waiting for you to become a vampire again... or for you to respec.

all you have to do is
    1) go get "re-infected" again (you must do this first, in order to re-open that skill line and make visible those used points again)
    2) immediatly after getting re-infected go directly to get a complete respec
    3) do NOT use any skill points on anything just yet
    4) immediatly go to the mages guild again and get cured of vampirism
    5) now you can use the points in any way you wish because you now have regained back all the skill points you had invested in vampirism skill line
    6) enjoy your new life free of the devine disease and all your newly regained complete set of skill points :)

Thank you all for some great comments... I would however like some clarification on whether or not it is necessary to contract the disease before respeccing.
    Thanks again.

By my understanding, no. The points are still there, you just can't see them. Respeccing resets all the points, not just the visible ones.

People used to call your attitude lousy. Try not being a complete d-bag. I feel fairly certain that won't hurt you either.
You could, however, explain to me how it is to be considered "common sense". Especially seeing as the respec before was not necessary as explained by the many fine folks otherwise engaged in this thread. If you feel like helping out in a thread, I suggest you do exactly that: Help.
Everyone is better of without our snarky remarks. Remarks which are false by the way.
    Have a nice weekend.

EDIT: Please don't explain though... just be quiet.

They are indeed still there, and I was given a full refund upon respeccing. Thank you all for your help on this.

The skill points are still there; there are just in the Vampire skill tree which you removed. If you become a Vampire again they will still be invested as they were; and if you respec you will get them back.

    Hihi, fair point ;)
I had been a vamp for a long time, and recently realized the only thing I used from it was the increased sneak speed so thought I might be better off without it... Time will tell if I'll regret it.
