I would love a hand-to-hand skill line, how about you?

One of my favourite modes of combat in Oblivion was hand-to-hand.

In Skyrim, one of the best mods I got was one that added a full hand-to-hand perk line into the game.

I would love to see a hand-to-hand skill line in ESO. Something with skills like paralyzing fist or a knock-out punch, with passives to make fist-fighting viable.

Would you be interested in seeing a dedicated hand-to-hand combat line?

Feel free to add comments on how you might like to see it executed.

I feel your fist would not fare well against a 2H sword or shield.

Maybe fist weapons would be acceptable to me :)

I wish we could make a "unarmed" char with a specialist class as Monk
I played TES III for years and i just loved that skill!

And it looks, reading some lore, that Khajits are specially "designed" for this as they can use they're claws as weapons !

    And possible the Argonians too!

I miss a lot Unarmed and underwater swimming, from older TES games.

That's what the bandits thought in Oblivion, before I punched their faces in!
And the town guards...and the supernatural creatures...and, well, pretty much everything else I found. :D

As I comprehend it, the Khajiit actually have multiple martial arts styles that they train in as well.
In previous games they got bonuses to hand-to-hand as a racial stat increase, along with the Argonians. =)

Nah. FTF looks goofy. If there was a skill line i would want it to be realistic, such as you have ZERO chance to kill a enemy in heavy armor, or even hurt him, lol.

Sure, why not. I heard about some guy who played through Skyrim with nothing but his fists. He punched out everything in his path, including Alduin; found this tidbit over at Cracked, the vids are almost as funny as that silly mod that turns dragons into some wrestler dude with a hat.

And yes, kitties have claws, and should be very good at using them. Ironic, this, since .. I played with my cat earlier today, and my hands are in a bit of .. pain. My fault for trying to speed test myself. Too slow, chicken merengo!

I'm not totally against the idea...but they would have to do something to compensate for the fact that you don't have to put any effort in to aquiring a weapon. What, I'm not sure.

I would like to see hand-to-hand combat skill line too. But maybe instead of just using fists you can get hand combat weapons.

I was thinking something along the lines of fighter's gloves as a "weapon" that could be equipped for mechanics purposes.
Crafted from the Clothing line, equip one to each fist -- provides the capacity to assign a "weapon damage" stat that scales with the skills.
Equipping the gloves could also serve as the activating factor for passives in the skill line.

Probably the easiest way to implement with the current game system while still maintaining the flavour.

I'm actually trying it out on my Nightblade at the moment.
My bar is full class skills, and I can only use 5 because weapon swap won't work without weapons.
Haste actually seems to apply to unarmed attack speed, so that is my bread-and-butter then I sustain with Strife. lol.

The output is pretty dismal, but it has a nice familiar feel to it. I would really like if there were a method to increase in proficiency though.

Totally agree. Hand to hand is silly when fighting people in armor and other planar monsters.

However, if they gave the lizard people, werewolves and vampires special attacks with their hands, I could live with that. Or if they created some kind of new class that was based around magical hand attacks, that would be ok, too.

Otherwise, nope. You'd just lose against a trained, armed opponent.

Having a HTH skill line wouldn't hurt and could be pretty cool imo. I mean base HTH light and heavy attack animations are already in, just have to add some active skills and passives. And to mix things up, i would love to see the actives draw from different stats-some magicka, some stamina, and some even HP.

Though all things being equal, i'd REALLY like to see real honest to god spears added. Yes, i have a Templar alt already, but would love to be able to roll out with a real spear on any class i like.

This game did not have enough (0) drunken brawls. I mean real fistfights not 'brawls' using actual weapons. Something that would have made the Skyrim zones feel more like Skyrim.

I think the game would still need you to have some kind of knucklers or claws to act as the weapons in slots.
Without an actual equipped item it would make the style weaker due to no enchantments and less slots for set bonus.

I think we should let them sort out all the existing bugs, glitches and problems before adding a whole new category of skills which will bring with it a whole new range of bugs, glitches and problems.

It's a nice idea, but for sometime in the (far) future.

Yeah I was definitely considering this issue as well.

I was thinking some sort of fighter's gloves crafted from the Clothier craftline. Gloves could be fingerless for Khajiit (so they can use their claws) and maybe have some sort of knuckle covers for human and mer races.

This would allow one to be equipped to each weapon hand slot for the purpose of calculating a weapon damage stat, sets and enchanments.
It would also make it so that all three types of crafters could craft both weapon and apparel; currently Blacksmithing and Woodworking have options to craft weapons or armour, but Clothing only has armour.
This would add a bit of spice for established clothiers without being too game breaking to produce them.

Thank you very much for the input though. =)

Oh I can definitely agree with this sentiment. I've been rolling Nightblade since the Beta and so many of our skills are bugged it is a little ridiculous.

But I didn't expect this to be handled too quickly; I just wanted to see if there was some other interest for the idea before I wrote up an actual theory and examples of skills behind it as a line.

At least many skill fixes are already due by the time Craglorn gets here, so I am glad they are making progress.

Thank you for the input. =)

(Just as an aside, I seem to recall reading on Reddit that there are two separate teams handling new content and existing bug fixes; so at least content updates are not presently getting in the way of bug fixes)

I think what you're talking about would be a Blacksmithing thing - Brass Knuckles and the like for the humans/elves. But I suppose there could be light/medium armour versions of them.
