A real "General Discussion"

Why is there no General Discussion forum for general things about the game? It's really bugging me.

Agreed. These forums are just weird in general. The layout is awkward. When they first went live I thought they were just in an incomplete state, because of launch, etc. But apparently I was mistaken.

Yea the game has tons of community issues, and bad forum categories is on top.

In fact not a single forum I tend to enjoy reading is available on these weird forums. Yet we have no choice to use them, as the community team does not seem to post on the third party sites much, if at all.

100% required basic categories that are missing:
- General. - We don't care how focused you want the forums to be. We are human. We won't not generalize. We WILL and ARE using this CS forum incorrectly as general, as we don't have a choice.
- Classes. 1 for each. - There are only 4 bloody classes and still we don't get forums? Tell us all you want they are only "templates" but your quite wrong. The classes are different enough, and in such critical ways that they need to be balanced and updated to be fun and useful in this ever changing game.
- Forum feedback. (Exactly for posts like this one)

Would be nice to have/only forums I really care for:
-Suggestions. - We love to help progress the game we are all helping keep afloat with our ideas and suggestions. Without any clear place to put them, it feels like the devs care less. And even if they did care, they won't be able to find our ideas as easily in the current mess of forums.
-Achievements. - Just enjoy reading this kind of category, for fun. Don't care if it's 100% un-moderated or no community team involvement.. The game just has a lot of them, and as it stands, there is no way to compare or chat about them outside forums.
-Trades. (1 per server)

I agree, a traditional General Discussion would be good.

I expect the design goal was to filter posters into game-specific areas, so the Best Of button up top would reflect lots of useful game information.

As it stands though, the Best Of page just shows lots and lots of quotes from unhappy people and colourful adjectives about Zenimax. The power of community - never underestimate it.

Would also be a nice afterthought to have a Navigation side-bar that isn't two screens high.

A General Discussion forum would be nice.
A Suggestions Forum would be useful too.
An easier way to find your way around would be amazing.

I only really just noticed this, but you're right, it's really odd there's no proper discussion place.

ZOS mods delete OT threads in Customer Support, fair enough really. But without a proper place for those threads, they just look like Gestapo silencing what they do not like.

The forums are very badly designed anyway, sort of like a rush job from a Sharepoint template, but at least a proper general area would actually get used.

I think there needs to be a general forums. It will help reduce the amount of general threads in here, leaving this forum for those who do need help.

Also, there should be a way to tell if you posted in a thread (on the forums, itself) and if someone quotes you (like how it notifies you if someone posted on your discussion thread).

As of right now, these forums are very awkward.

the way these forums are set up right now allows for moderators to practically declare everything everywhere "off-topic" and close which is what i think is the reason. in a general discussion you'd have to let people discuss generally - and as unhappy as the (forum) community seems right now, that general discussion would be rather negative i assume.

-general chat
-class forums
-TRADE TRADE TRADE. This game has no auction house and guilds are only limited to 500 players where around only half of them actually use the guild store because of retardedly high fees. Theres no trade channel in the ingame chat. MAKE THE DAMN FORUM FOR TRADES

Juts cos every other MMO out there does something similar does not mean it is just mediocre and needs improvement. Many of us are used to it/

There is a fanbased trading forum on tesoelite: The Marketplace. I have seen several players recommending to go there if you wanna avoid the limitatons of the guild stores. Whether it works properly, is completely legal within game rules and all that I have no idea, so please don't ban me for mentioning it. It is not an option that works for me, but might be worth a look for others.
