The "Can't Attack" bug

There is sometimes a bug that happens when your character just cannot attack. Opening a menu fixes this, but opening a menu in the middle of a fight is fairly costly.
I noticed a pattern, it happens when I get interrupted while using Flurry (Dual wield).
Does anyone report this bug happening on other abilities too, or just Flurry? For me, it's only Flurry.

It has happened to me. I am not sure if it was during a flurry but that is one of the skills I use regularly.

It's flurry for me, also.

I've gotten very good at double tapping the escape button.

I have had this too. It usually feels like I'm stunned, but then it lasts WAY longer. I stood there, helpless, for minutes while my group died in the dungeon. I put my weapons away and drew them again and that fixed it, but it was too late by the time I was able to move again.

Only happens to me on my Nightblade. I don't have this issue with any of the other classes, which lends more credence to it being related to Flurry. I know I tend to use it a lot.

Interesting, thanks for the responses. I guess the very-long animation sequence for Flurry can get buggy at times.

Interesting. I also have this problem fairly often and, while I hadn't particularly pegged it as being a problem with Flurry, Flurry is one of my primary and most used abilities.

Pressing the 'Enter' key to open chat and quickly pressing it again fixes this. It's a better alternative (for me anyway) than opening a menu.

Still, this should be given some attention.

I get a similar bug using the DK ulti with Draconic Power.. Much better than beta but sill annoying.

I dual wield flurry a lot. It very well could be the cause. I get this bug constantly.
It isn't the time it takes to open and close a window that kills me, it is the time it takes me to notice I am bugged that hurts. Skills often don't fire off for me and I am well into dying before I realize that this bug has me in it's grasp yet again.

Yes, I believe that this is called the Swiss bug.

It enshrouds the character with a feeling of world peace and pacifism.

It also has been known as the World Beauty Contest Speech bug!

I do 1h sword and shield. I do not have flurry. I experience this bug regularly. I do not believe it is flurry, otherwise I would not be experiencing this also.

I've had this problem before too but it was with Crystal Fragments (morph of Sorc's Crystal Shard). One time the animation for the shard was just hovering in mid-air until I died. I didn't realize that opening a menu worked until now, so thanks for that.

I see. Maybe it is just abilities with longer-than-normal animation times. It also happens on the Werewolf's Pounce ability, similar to the DK's Draconic Leapy thingy ma bobber.

This has been a constant problem for me. It seems to happen when I enter combat unexpectedly (meaning something attacks me, forcing my toon to draw a weapon). My staff is out and I am absolutely not stunned or otherwise disabled, so why in every name of the Eight can I not use any of my instant abilities?

It happens when I initiate combat, too, though! I can't see a pattern there; I go to use one of my instant abilities, and I have to mash it sixteen times before it goes. (Edit: It seems fine if I've opened with an ability that has a casting time, though.)

I didn't know about the open-a-menu trick, either. Thanks for that.

Edit 2: I main a templar. I do not remember the names of the instant abilities that are affected by this strange delay, but one is just damage and the other is a knockback with damage. ;B

I have this happen occasionally. I do have Flurry (well, the Blinding Flurry morph) on my action bar, so it could be that. Thanks for the tips about Esc-Esc, Enter-Enter, etc., fixing it. I mostly just die and hope it goes away when I respawn!

hmmm now u mention it yes it does happen to me i thought it was my connection and it only happens on nightblade all i can do is walk arround didnt try opening any menus will try that next time it happens

There's definitely an issue where the action bar slots become unresponsive. It wasn't my mouse, as I have bound crouch and sprint to mouse buttons and they worked just fine, but I could not use any actions. It was just the actions, not anything else, as I could move, jump, etc. It just happened to me in the Alik'r Desert, way south west. When I hit a menu action, and then came back to the UI, it was fixed. This is HIGHLY annoying - hope they figure out what's causing it and put a fix out soon. Just to add, I'm Sorcerer using Crystal Fragments.

NOTE: This could be an ability lag issue - though to me, when it happened, nothing seemed to be lagging at all, at least no visual indications. I could run just fine too, no rubber banding or anything, and other players were in the area attacking things just fine, they were not standing still, etc.

Happens to me on my Templar ALL THE TIME. It isn't Flurry, at least not for me, as I don't have that skill.

Yes, happens to me to - like a lot of the posters, on my Nightblade. I use flurry a lot, so that's probably it.

Thanks for the fix tips! Will use it till the devs sort this one out.

Wow. That's my feeling too. I ran into this with my DW Nightblade. I guess it was lucky for me someone else jumped into the fight.

I have had this happen to me as well. And you guessed it, it's on my character who regularly uses flurry. I thought I was being disoriented or something, but it seems to last so long, that I'm now thinking it's a bug.

I wonder if it is any action that has a longer then normal animation associated with it?

I didn't really start having this problem until last night after the NA server came back up. I happened to be playing my DW Nightblade, who utilizes flurry quite frequently (especially after going invisible). All of my other hot keys worked just fine, but about half the time I hit flurry, my kitty would just stand there.

My husband plays a Templar, and didn't have this issue. My other main is a sorc w/crystal shard, and I havent noticed this issue with her, either.

Thank you for the info : I was so at a lost ! You know, fully incapable of attacking or even breaking stun or dodging. I could only parry and walk back and it would last so long a zombie would kill me.

And it was on a Nightblade using Flurry.

Same experience. Not STUNNED either (I can move around), but can't cast anything 1-5, Ultimate or even hold down mouse to do things.

Very annoying, but seen only during lag periods mostly.
