No, and I will boycott every single game Zenimax Media Inc. publishes in the future if this happens (including Elder Scrolls 6 & Fallout 4). Same with B2P.

Not sure, but I think, you can't even write in the forum, if you have unsubed. So maybe he/she is lying.

Un-subbed does not mean no game time. Also other players have unsubbed and still stuck around. You can unsub and pay with game time cards and still be on the forum also. Most likely his time has not lapsed.

I don't care but I would prefeer it being Pay to play. Just keep on going and try to earn money by inversion in publicity, specially when console gets in. They should have a complete game by then thou.

I quit SWTOR before the f2p conversion, so i cannot comment on it, but ddo f2p conversion worked fine so i don't see why so many people are freaking out about it.

When I left the game 8 months ago, I wasn't able to write in the forum anymore. I had to contact the support and ask them to unlock me for the forum again, when I came back a few months ago. Even though I already had subscribed again.

    Wrong.

I was still able to post one month after my subscription ran out last October, not only with this account, but also with my beta account (which had never even been subscribed)

I won't be happy about it but it will depend upon how they implement it. "Pay to Win" will see me out the door. Vanity items only in the shop will be okay...as long as they can ALSO be accessed with in game gold. Otherwise, yeah I'll likely leave.

If the game goes F2P I would rather just go play an already existing F2P that is more developed. The only saving grace of ESO right now is the community isn't full of trolls, and F2P would change that

That's cause the devs do enough trolling for the rest of us. With the false promises and going back on their word.

I play a game, not a business model simulator. As long as I enjoy the game, based on what I experience in-game as opposed to on the forums or elsewhere, I'll continue playing it regardless of the business model. I expect that to be a very long time.
  • samueltannerb14_ESO
It all depends on the model. I still play Lord of the Rings Online, SWTOR, and Rift. There are others I have tried that I can not stand.

I would check it out before I leave on the ever so slight chance it would be worth playing after f2p but 99% chance, it would end up another f2p game not even worth playing for free and would cost me far more than 14.99 a month to have a decent game play experience.

No. Whether it worked that way for you or not, it is supposed to be active account only to post. On the knowledge base:

I don't have an active subscription, can I still read the forums?

I'm sure that's how it's supposed to work, but I bet there's plenty of unsubscribed people still commenting here on forums.

Either they're manually suspending the posting rights (and forgot to suspend mine when I went on a break), or there's some bug in their system :P

If it will go F2P, it depends on how they manage it. The F2P Model in Age of Conan was actually pretty good. I played regardless, didnt even felt it was F2P.

You could play for free to a certain extend. Your gold was limited, you couldnt get into all raids and dungeons(but you could have bought a timepass for each). In the store you could have bought some boosters etc. some starter gear. Not the great stuff. Basic items you could also craft very cheap ingame.

Then you had some mounts, pets and Vanity Clothing Items.

they also kept the regular subscrition. With that running everything was like before it went F2P. You had access to everything and even got points per month to use in the shop + additional discount for everything in the store.

With a system like that i wouldnt mind.

Ive always thought people put too much importance on the payment model. I'll play as long as the game stays fun, regardless of how I pay for it.

I do think B2P would be a better option than F2P though because F2P can have a negative impact on the community.

I enjoyed the heck out of GW2 though and there's a good chance B2P could expand the player base. A lot of people are just against sub-fees on principle and might give ESO a shot without the sub.
