Swimming Underwater in Tamriel

theschmids_ESO
Swimming underwater to explore, find treasure, even complete quests. Some of my best screen shots in Skyrim were underwater by a chest with the sea life in the background. Is this a needed addition, no. Besides being an Argonian one would need a potion or an item with a trait to breathe underwater - even diving while in water you can not physically do. This new addition could be a whole new world to explore. Placing foliage on the bottom of bodies of water could be added easily. There are many things to do in the game already, adding this element would make for a more well rounded experience.

I'd love for this to be a real thing. There are lots of cool things that can be added with something like this. Underwater exploration would be awesome! Finding underwater caves and delves, treasure, bosses, and all sorts of cool things.

I'm for it. I hope ZoS has this planned in some future update or expansion!

Its "ease" of implementation doesn't matter either. Its almost 2015 and we landed a spaceship on a comet, and an SUV sized Rover on Mars. We can get Underwater exploration in ESO :).

Slissix-Kir ~ Swamp Shaman (Argonian Sorcerer)
    Hail Sithis..

Yeah, I completely agree with this! This could make for some extra fun content and could add oysters for getting pearls to make jewelery when they make the goldsmithing craft! Could also add emeralds to be dug up to. Also could add mobs to be killed under water. Also could add spear fishing as well! ;)

There aren't any grammatical errors, I was taking your sentence out of context to say that underwater content most certainly would not be easy to implement.

I'd rather see other stuff than this considering the development time required to make this happen (well).

Initially yes, but once the inlays are complete and the instance written it would flow like any delve already in game. The water portion will be the most difficult to render, for example once in an underwater cave an inlay from a previous environment could be used to stage that cave and thus that adventure. If given the right parameters it would be an fps nightmare. In the beginning I would make your field of view smaller, than work my way up to being able to look at the surface from the bottom. Only being able to dive at certain times of the year this would be a welcome edition. Heck if ZOS asked me I would even help write the environment to get it game ready.

Yes, more or less, since as of now the vertical dimension is only for jumping and falling.

It would take a bit of extra coding and new graphics, so there would need to be substantial content that would make it worthwhile. That said there is definitely potential for new content in such an environment.

Pretty sure that would require some insane engine reworking. IIRC, ZoS stated that the engine was designed NOT to have underwater action.
Force weapon swap to have priority over EVERYTHING. Close enough.
Make stamina builds even with magicka builds.
    Disable abilities while holding block.
Give us a REASON to do dungeons more than once.
Remove PVP AoE CAP. It is ruining Cyrodiil.
Fix/Remove Forward Camps. They are ruining Cyrodiil.
Impenetrability needs to REDUCE CRIT DAMAGE. Not negate entire builds.

I put points into my argonian passive purely for the fun of being able to swim fast in water, and I was sad the other day in Craglorn when visiting that lake behind belkarth where you see the submerged ruins.

I don't need combat underwater, but I would love to be able to explore submerged ruins or swim about. It would also be a really cool way to add some new harvesting nodes to reward players who put the skill points into their water abilities. There are so many quality of life additions I would prefer to see happen before they add in any more zones, but sadly I doubt they will ever happen, at least not anytime soon.

Yeah, it's definitely odd to have to simply keep out of Lake Rumare (that big lake surrounding the Imperial City) rather than being able to go into it and fight the slaughterfish with a sword ;). At level 2. Because you have a quest which involves killing 12 of the things.

    So many health potions!

I think this idea sounds phenomenal!! I loved the fact that I could swim underwater and catch little unsuspecting fishies in skyrim ;) but seriously, finding treasure and weapons was amazing, I even remember a specific cave that you had to swim underwater to get to inside the actual crypt area and find the real loot. It was awesome and felt so much more immersive and I loved it, please ZoS, bring it back!! @ZOS_GinaBruno‌ @ZOS_AbigailT‌ or pass it on to someone who can help please ;)

If they truly, honestly thought TES gamers wouldn't want underwater gameplay in a TES game they really weren't the right people for the job.

And it's a lazy craftsman that blames his tools. This CAN be done and we are paying $15 a month for a game that has a FAR less dynamic environment than many of the free MMOs out there... I think underwater exploration is a fair thing to expect in a future update.

I don't know, if this is true. What I know is, that at the moment underwater content is not possible, as we don't have water. We only have a surface that looks like water but nothing beneath it.

At the moment, they can't even animate characters in a way that they would stand properly on uneven ground or stairs. So I wouldn't expect them to bring in underwater content and diving anytime soon.

There are two new zones in developement at the moment. Underwater content would mean, that the ocean and some lakes would have to be rebuild and that would need a lot of work. So even if they started to do this now, what they will not do, they might be finished with it by 2016.

And free fishing. This game claims to have freedom but it hasn't. Invisible wall on certain mountains is one thing, but only able to fish at predesigned spots is another. I want to fish on any spot i desire.

Game is great though, don't want to bash it.

There's a difference between bashing and openly expressing the things that will keep you interested in for years to come. I'm a casual player that hasn't even finished the main campaign yet and if some things aren't added to show me ESO is growing in a certain direction by the time I do finish the main campaign, I'll cancel my subscription.

I'm NOT saying "Make the game MY way or I'll quit!" I'm saying that ESO, as it stands now, doesn't offer enough residual content for me to justify subscribing to this game beyond the main campaign when there are SO many other games to play.

Adding things like underwater exploration, player housing, farming, better LFG systems, better guild support, and simple things like... torches, are all things that will help make ESO a more living, breathing, thriving world. The CORE of the game needs to be added upon. We don't just need additional areas to run through...
